The church is beautiful; however, my son and daughter-in-law's wedding was made so stressful. The church did not allow us to decorate after the rehearsal the night before the wedding, after they were told we could. The reason given was, they had tours up until the time of the wedding. It poured rain the day of the wedding and there was no assistance given to get the bride from the parking lot to the church. The golf cart they had to take people from the parking lot to the church was not covered and was soaking wet. A couple of the family members were told the golf cart would come get them at the spare room and take them to the church. The wedding was about to start and the family members had to go find someone to drive them to the church. Be forewarned, the church does not offer any type of coverage to shield the receiving line that has to stand outside after the wedding. If you are planning a wedding here, make sure they have the right time (they had this wedding starting an hour after it was to start), think about all the things that can go wrong by having to stand outside before and after the wedding, don't plan on decorating until 30 to 60 mins before your wedding is to start, in your wedding clothes. If there is to be bad weather, have your own people there with umbrella's to help guests, family, and the bride get...
Read moreVery upsetting. Just came here from Virginia Beach after eating Mother's Day lunch out here. We stopped here to check out this beautiful historic church. The man inside the gift shop was friendly, he sold us tickets to tour the grounds and the church. There was a guided tour that had just started but we wanted to do it on our own. We walked around the outside for a bit. We knocked on the church door to be let in. An older lady opened the door and stood there. She asked if we were there for the guided tour. We said no we were touring ourselves. She said well you got a peek and shut the door in my face. With my husband and 2 year old standing next to me. We stood there for a minute in utter disbelief. I have never been so disrespected. We paid, we were allowed to go in and tour the church for however Long we wanted. And she was such a nasty women. Needles to say that definitely put a negative energy on my Mother's Day. I am still in shock. Thanks lady. You should stay home if your going to be...
Read moreBrenden(sp?) was a wonderful educator. Full of natural knowledge that you could tell he enjoyed sharing. He was kind and soft spoken and his enthusiasm was contagious. He made the experience what it was and it was so refreshing to hear from someone with his passion for the subject. Your was partially self lead and paced which we enjoyed as we had several slower walkers. Walk way was clear and easy to navigate. We liked having the Audio options at our disposal as we went along. Peaceful and enjoyable experience. Once we entered the church Brenden helped our group inside and allowed us time to look around. He was eager to answer all of our questions and customized his talk to what we were interested in. The history here is incredible and we enjoyed learning about this piece of American history. Kudos to St. Luke’s for finding Brenden our group agrees he’s a gem. Gift shop was cute and offered affordable options in order to be able to take a little something with to remember your day....
