Had a pool party for our baseball teams yesterday evening and we had a kid go up on the high dive to jump off, but got to scared to jump once he actually got up there and saw how high it was. The lifeguard would not let him come down the ladder and at one point even threatened to push him off. They said it was against their policy to let them come down the ladder. This child sat up there for an hour and a half. I just read the policy that is posted on the Y's page and I saw nothing at all about this. This was cruel. His parents paid for a party that he didn't even get to enjoy. I almost called the police. Both the manager and assistant manager were there and it wasn't until the last 15 min of the party that she decided to bring out a waiver for his parents to sign for him to come down the ladder. This was after bringing out a rescue mat for him to jump onto. I cannot believe the manner in which these people behaved. We will never ever go there again and don't recommend this...
Read moreThis place is more of a kid skating rink I highly dont reccommend experienced skaters to come here. The "floor gaurds" are teenagers who are no more then 13yr olds. It is way out of control. Kids running into other kids and knocking kids down. When someone falls down they dont even help kids up. I dont feel like the games are ran good. I dont feel like the "help" should be allowed to play games. I have a 92 A wheel on my skates and i was sliding so bad. The floor needs resurfaced BAD. I fell and i had other customers helping me up instead of staff. The concession area is to small not enough seats. I dont mind supporting local business but i can not support somewhere, that teens run the floor. They need a older teen that knows and wants to skate or a adult to run the floor... we have traveled to many many skating rinks between Kansas City, Pittsburg, Jefferson City, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Branson for speed skating and we stay for sessions and nothing this...
Read moreMunicipal park itself is absolutely wonderful for a variety of reasons. Spacious city park with many amenities and sections for various activities. My latest trip to Municipal Park was to the Annual carthage Stampede Rodeo at the arena. The grounds were great and almost completely perfect for Rodeos. The only improvement I'd suggest to make for a better experience for patrons was having more than one snack bar for the large crowds that this event attracts in the heat of summer. The wait in line was REDICULOUS for what was also offered. Having two snack bars open on nights with large events would definitely be beneficial. I can say that the Hotdogs were delicious. Otherwise, it was rather perfect hometown...
