We stayed at the Sugarloaf Unit at Lake Cascade in west central Idaho. We stayed here for the Eclipse in August of 2017. It's approx. 2 miles off the main road and we found it very peaceful and quiet. You will be boon docking at this location. We had our trailer so it was wonderful! The campground has vault toilets and they are kept up everyday by the parks department. There are no showers, so be aware of that. Water spigots are within the campsite area if you want to fill your trailer there. There were two different trash bins at this place which was a bonus. The area is surrounded by pine trees, sage brush and the lake. There are several hiking trails throughout the area, mainly through the sage brush. The campsites are spread out so you will have some privacy. You are within walking distance of the lake. We did not go in the water but we did see some water skiers. We did see some reviews where people said that they got swimmers itch in the lake. Not sure about that, but you can do research if needed. This is a must! Bring mosquito spray. They love to come out for a couple of hours around sunset and there were a lot of them! Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay here. We loved the views and the peacefulness and found other campers very respectful...
Read moreI planned a one night camping trip at the Ridgeview campground. A few reasons why I chose this campground was because #1: there are medical facilities that are extremely close by, #2: electric and water hookups, and #3: It's right on the beautiful lake.
I am traveling with my elderly father and I wanted to go somewhere secluded, yet if something were to go medically wrong, help would be close by. Due to the cooler night temps, and traveling with elderly, the electric hookups were just what we needed to keep my Pop toasty warm at night in the RV, and my father being a nature lover absolutely enjoyed his stay with the lake being right outside our camper and having the view of the lake outside our windows.
The campgrounds are clean, we'll tended to, the campground hosts are great and very sweet, and the campground was quiet during our Monday night stay.
My father enjoyed himself so much that we are taking another 200 mile drive to stay again for the second...
Read moreIncredible place. Recently developed campground in state park. Full hookups are in great shape and functional. Parking pad is macadam and wide, accompanied by a large raked sandy area with a picnic table (enough space for a tent as well, I assume). Sites are way far apart - you could put four rv sites in between us and the next guy if comparing to most parks I've stayed. ;View of the beautiful lake with a sandy beach and a boat ramp. Full bathhouse with toilets and showers, as well as vaulted toilets at each end. And the trash dumpsters were far away so that you dont get that downwind fragrance! Looks like the state park is situated all around the lake with small campgrounds. Great plan. The host visited us when we arrived, and was very friendly. A cut above many state parks I've visited. No wonder I was only able to find one site...
