A small gem of a museum with an eclectic collection. People often say that they're unsure of what the subject of the museum is supposed to be. The quick rundown is that there was a man named John Wilson who was an archeologist from Castine. He travelled across the world throughout his life to study different areas and cultures, and curing his travels collected a myriad of artifacts that he put on display in this museum. Since then, other artifacts have been donated, creating a collection that includes the entire world as well as Castine's little corner of it. The museum also features many activities for kids. On Wednesdays and Sundays in July and August there are blacks nothing and woodturning presentations, as well as tours of The Perkins House, which is the oldest house in Castine.
