LOVE this place! My friends, my dog, & I run here! One of my FAVORITE places to run - so many OPTIONS!! I can run LONG RUNS in either direction- West to Twin Lakes YMCA or East all the way to Hairy Man road & where the trail ends. Brushy Creek Lake Park is nice different times of year. In Spring it has Fields & Fields of GORGEOUS Bluebonnets & Indian Paintbrush, & other Beautiful Wildflowers; in early/mid Summer it has BEAUTIFUL OTHER Wildflowers!! As Tall as my waist this year!! The Icepocalypse in February may get have something to do with the Gorgeous flowers in front of the Lake this year? Not sure. There is a small “Water Splash Park” by the bathrooms for kids & parents to cool down in the summer. There are covered picnic tables, a Volleyball court & Bocchi Ball or Cornhole area that many people also use for Fitness workouts (casually meeting there on the fake green top (think soft cushy tennis court but smaller) early in the morning or after work. The trails are nice & wide. Lots of bikes, walkers, runners, dogs, strollers. Bathrooms could be cleaner but fair for an outdoor bathroom area. Drinking fountain could be COOLER water (like at Twin Lakes YMCA Bathroom - nice & Cold drinking fountain!). **The Big thing that could be improved is to have more Dog bag stations WITH TRASH CANS OR at least doggie poop bag trash cans!! Round Rock has Multiple “all in one” Dog poop bags connected to a poop bag trash can! Do you expect us to carry the poop bags for a 5-10 mile run?? I see a LOT of full poop bags left at the base of the new poop bag station. I think it’s a hint to the city to get more TRASH Cans along the trails PLEASE! 🙏 Fortunately, my dog is “Regular” & almost Always goes at the beginning of our runs where there are trash cans! (wherever we start - Hairy Man, BCRT Lake, Twin Lakes, Olsen Meadows, the Sports Park just to the West of the BCRT Lake park, etc..) Nice that in the Cedar Park portion of BCRT, there are nice drinking fountains & water bottle fillers too! I love that there are enough trees to have shade & a pretty view, as well as open areas - if you take the trail end to end. Lots of Variety! Also variety of sidewalk vs dirt/“crusher fine” gravel. Oh, also the Kayak rental place at the base of the dam. The dam itself is a Beautiful Vantage point especially at Sunset!! The deer are usually out at Dawn & Dusk too! Thank you for wide trails & miles & miles & miles to get our runs done...
Read moreBrushy Creek Lake Park is seriously awesome! It's such a peaceful and refreshing place to visit. If you go in the morning, you'll see the most amazing sunrises over the calm little lake, just painting the sky with colors.
They have these really long, well maintained trails perfect for hiking or biking. Whether you want a good workout or just a nice, relaxed walk to enjoy nature, these trails are great. The paved paths are super smooth and offer some pretty views, so they're good for serious bikers and people just out for a stroll.
What's cool about Brushy Creek Lake Park is how much you can do there. It's perfect for family picnics – tons of grassy spots to spread out a blanket and have lunch outside. And if you like being on the water, the lake is so calm for kayaking, a really peaceful way to explore the area.
It's also a go-to spot if you're active. Lots of people come here for walking, jogging, and running, since the trails are long enough to really stretch your legs. Cyclists will love the dedicated biking paths; it's a smooth and fun ride.
They even have a handy BBQ area, which makes it easy to grill up some food with friends and family. Plus, there are clean restrooms and plenty of parking, which is always a bonus.
But maybe the best part? It's totally free to enjoy! That makes it super accessible for everyone in the community. Honestly, from the beautiful scenery to all the different activities, Brushy Creek Lake Park is a fantastic place to get outdoors, and I totally...
Read morePerfect for a walk, bicycle ride, run, etc. Large network of trails...many paved, some dirt.
Also great to being the Goats (kids) of all sizes. Something for everyone. Playground on the East side of Parmer. Fields/pitch on the West complete with disc golf course, space for kite flying, and plenty of space for proper football (soccer).
Shadowed by a hawk today when I was along the stream West of the trestle and off the paved path. He kept flying overhead and then off to my right as I trekked. I'd pass him somewhere and then he'd do it again. Three times this but I could never see him stationary in the trees. I paused a few times to no avail. It was worth seeing him/her fly low overhead with a beautiful row of horizontal stripes across the tail.
Trail meanders along the creek crossing it a couple of times with diversion trails on both sides for a more interesting hike.
An interesting bit of history too. The trail crosses a train trestle that was used in the building of the capital building. There are several car sized pink granite boulders surrounding the track that had come off the train cars as it traversed the bridge. Scary! You can really see them up close if you approach the trestle from the North side. A literal...
