Nice Park, Trail markings need work

I just finished the 2.1 mile orange trail. First off, the trails are pretty nice. they are well packed and could make for good running. It winds around meadows and tree coverage areas. Very peaceful next to brooks and some seating areas around the trail. They have seed nurseries, bee hives and even have firepits in certain areas that you can reserve.

But, the trail markings are not well done. They don't mark the trail at a fork, but usually some feet into the fork. So you often pick a turn blindly and then later find out that you're on the wrong path when you see the trail marker. There is one turn toward the end of the orange trail where it's marked as orange and purple. When I walk further, I see another marker saying only purple. Thinking I missed a turn, I circled back and couldn't find anything. So i continued back along the purple trail and further on it's marked as purple and orange. I was on the right path all along, but it was marked that way. If you're doing a 2 mile trek, you want to make sure you're not going in circles.

I've been to the Sugarcreek metropark trail and it's much better marked. If they could fix that, I would...

#TeamClark decided to hike Bill Yeck Park in Bellbrook, Ohio this afternoon!

This trail is right at three miles long if you hike the entire loop. There were a couple of detours throughout the trail today which prohibited us from completing the entire three miles.

Lucky for us, we got turned around and went down the wrong trail for a 1/2 mile... backtracked... and then finished the hike.... which ended up giving us 2.6 miles in total anyway!😁🦾

As we walked down the purple trail, we saw that people had made little gnome houses all over the place!! That was a pretty cool site to see!🥰

I think we were able to cross over the creek four different times during our hike... because of how the trail s-curved... It was a truly beautiful hike!

I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a workout with an incredible view!😳

This is officially the 25th Park/Reserve/Preserve that we've hiked in the last 25 weeks!😁

The family goal is to hike a different park in OHIO every weekend until it's too frigid to walk!! 🥶

BTW... Thank you to Doug Cerny & Chrissy Kinser Cerny for the inspiration... your post of this park last week as what made us go!💙

Had not been here for 7 years. Had always been one of our favorites when we lived here before. Still a beautiful park but…..trail not well marked! Took away much of our enjoyment simply due to the fact that we were constantly going out of our way before finally being able to get back on the yellow trail! We are experienced hikers and have hiked in a number of states and always felt the Centerville parks to be among the best so this was a disappointment. Please do a better job of marking this trail so we can once again consider it a 5 star experience.

UPDATE:

Just returned from a hike at Bill Yeck! What a difference from when I was last there last and wrote this review!! The trails now are among the best marked I’ve ever seen anywhere! I commend whomever was responsible for this wonderful improvement over when I was last there and subsequently expressed my disappointment on how badly the trails were marked at that time in my initial review. Thanks so much and Bill Yeck is once again my favorite hiking trails...

It is an unparalleled example of what a park should be. It has plenty of trails, space for wildlife, and a bee hive. It has soccer fields, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, a playground, and covered picnic tables. We love going down the purple trail which is flat enough and oscillates between being out in the open and covered in the woods. It has numbered bird houses along the way for little ones to count. For more adventurous folks or older children there are trails further in the woods that are dirt not sand/stone and offer more of a challenge. This park is really several parks connected together so it almost feels unfair to rate them together but I will because they have interconnected them in such a helpful and meaningful way.

Right next to the ever popular Sugarcreek Metropark, this little gem of a park doesn't get nearly as much traffic. There are trails through fields of wildflowers and woods with several river crossings. There is a children's play area with musical instruments. There's a bird watching area with bird seed provided. There is even an aviary, so fair warning if you are allergic to bees. This park is well worth a visit for those who enjoy the great outdoors.
