Rathbun Marina — Attraction in Centerville

I had put together a group of 10 that were supposed to be headed that way for a long 4 day weekend/mini-vacation this weekend from 8/2 to 8/5. I had heard about the freak storm and called immediately after the damage a couple of weeks ago, was told we'd be OK for our weekend. Then due to the prompting from one of the friends that had been watching your videos from this past weekend telling me there is no way we're going to be OK for this weekend's trip. So I called again this morning. I spoke to Jeanelle (sp) and was made to feel like I was being a pain in the rear and was just flatly told there is no way we're having our slips. Keep in mind, this is ME reaching out, never received a call about this whole situation, not offered alternatives etc. While I really do feel for your predicament as a business owner I want to take the time to suggest you use this as a lesson about PROACTIVE customer service. A call, an email, a facebook message SOMETHING. We received nothing and had to reach out to you and received conflicting information, this effectively made it impossible to make other plans for this vacation time for 10 adults, 160 hours of combined vacation time and potentially thousands of $$$ spent in the area. This was a very large group that CHOSE you and Lake Rathbun (we've never been before) to spend our hard earned money for a fun long weekend only to be slow played and not told honestly that this vacation plan was...

I've stayed at the marina a dozen times. The staff is superb. The rooms are clean. There are very few negative reviews and unfortunately not everyone will always be happy but I would have a hard time taking my business elsewhere. If you go during the week don't plan on eating at the bistro. I think the bistro is open Friday thru sunday. The marina store is well stocked for snacks and beverages. Some people complain about the prices but they have an operation to run and are always upgrading the facilities. That takes funding so helping the place out during your stay goes right back to your next visit. If you like to fish the store can hook you up with a guide. If you want to swim or boat there is a fantastic sand beach a 2 minute boat ride from the ramp. The marina also has a recovery service if your boat needs a tow back to the ramp. Great marina with everything you need. There is a general store that covers all your needs from alcohol to camping supplies to some food items. The bar and restaurant on site looks great, unfortunately we didn't stay late enough to try it (I think it opens at 5pm?).

We rented two pontoons from here on two separate occasions. Once their biggest 12 person 26 ft pontoon and another time the 8-10 person one. Both were new as of May 2021 and were awesome. Very clean, comfortable and loaded with great features like GPS fish finder, nice stereos and USB phone chargers by each seat.

We had a great time on the lake, the prices were very reasonable, the staff was very helpful and friendly. We would happily rent here again. My only recommendation is that they increase their return time to something like 6 or 7pm. Boats had to be back by 4pm which was hard to stick to and there was still lots of daylight left.
