Overall its a nice park. There isn’t a lot of parking but normally it’s not full anyway. there are a few ponds but only one isn’t overgrown. It has spots to fish but not exactly the best fishing since its fished so much, yet the chance is there. The ponds to the south of the grounds are mainly shallow beaver and other wildlife habitats so it is good for a nature walk especially if you go a little off trail in those areas. If you want to catch some fish You may actually fair better fishing the Comite River close to the bridge. And yes you can acess the river by going into the back heading westward on the northern trail. If you take the northern trail westward It will take you all the way to the back of the park to the Comite River. There you can go swimming in the river if you’re into that. It’s not deep and relatively good for younger kids with supervision as long as the River isn’t high. There is a rocky sandy beach to setup at although it can get a little full at times but mostly not too bad. It does change from time to time with more or less beach area. The people are generally nice and keep to themselves but it being public anything can happen so just a heads up. Outside of that its not a bad place but in general do not bring valuables and leave them in your car especially visible for people to see. Thats not just this park but almost everywhere, a little tip for those a little sheltered. If they look in and don’t see anything tempting then they are probably going to move on. So with that enjoy as it is a good place to get...
Read moreWe went here one evening while visiting family in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana. We wanted to do some paddle boarding and to try a little fishing close to home. It is a quaint and quiet place. We didn’t see any playground equipment for kids. Seems like a place to walk and enjoy nature and solitude with quick access.
The fishing was slow but the reservoir was just right to paddle board.
The distance from the parking lot and the reservoir was about 200 feet—not bad for carrying the paddle boards. There were public restrooms in the parking lot. There’s a shady trail around the lake for walking, and multiple places with and without a pier for fishing or sitting to contemplate.

Read moreSuch a beautiful place! The walk to the river was very peaceful and filled with wildlife and vegetation with a clear walking path. The only complaint I had was at the river area people just left thier trash everywhere. Maybe adding a trashcan on the sandy beach area would help! All in all it was a beautiful nature walk and fun in the river! The spot we were at was not deep at all and perfect for my 7 and 5 year old to play safely! This is an area where your definately want river shoes though as the bottom has areas of clay...
