if I could give this school zero stars I would. i'm attending right now and it has been the biggest regret and waste of money so far. its supposed to be a small college but this year the freshman class has overrun the rest of the school at 660 some students. half the undergraduate total. they barely want to help you, the financial aid lady for Veterans affairs is rude, the food is horrendous, there wasn't hot water for a week in two whole dorm halls which consisted of 3 floors each, signed a petition and nothing was done about it, there is a NEW dorm hall that had to be evacuated due to black mold EVERYWHERE, people had to move into a near by hotel for however long its going to take to clean that mess up, the heat was not turned on until earlier this week and those who have pets that need a certain temperature were advised by res life to "take them home or give them to a friend to keep" some people have come from 3+ hours away. how would that be possible, the equitation classes and teachers are a JOKE and you WILL get hurt with their inability to teach a lesson (from personal experience I have watched a few lessons), they over charge you for everything and will fine you for every little thing you do. The residential parking pass is 185 dollars and you are only allowed to park in one small lot. I paid that much to park on a side street at the main entrance of the college. good luck finding a place to park. Good luck with the dorm rooms as well, there are so many rules about not messing anything up, but goodness people are allowed where ever they want. there are mixed gender halls to the point where almost all of my neighbors where males, and the only thing that locks are your dorm doors, and guess what no one tells you this until you get there. no feeling of safety or privacy at this school. The classes are tolerable, with the exception of a terrible math department, silly classes that do not help you major if you aren't in VMT. they don't tell you that you'll need to have a boat load of classes that will take you 5 years to complete, with 49+ credits of liberal studies courses that are a requirement of course. also, the difference between living on campus is 40,000 a year vs 13,000 to commute. I have made a three-four year course schedule plan and hardly any of those classes will help me with my job in the real world. Get your head out of the...
Read moreWant massive student loans? Want to get sick from black mold/asbestos? Want to leave college with health conditions? Want to lose weight from disgusting flavorless food? Want to be fined for any petty thing? Want to feel isolated and helpless from financial aid? Discriminated against for being a woman at a (formerly) women's college? Want to spend your college days being bored? Would you like to experience all of this for 5 years because of student class load in order to graduate? Want to leave college with little to no contacts or prospects of a career? Come here. They're shooting themselves in the foot and will go under in 5 years because they couldn't be any less helpful and student-friendly than what they already do, or don't do. Unless your parents are paying your way, you will acquire loans for the rest of your life. Professors are good, some not so much, so you're better off going to another college who actually want to see you graduate with minimal debt and on time and with job prospects. Getting around Wilson is herding cats, you will go to one office to be told one thing to another to hear a different thing so you're running in circles trying to get them to help which in the end makes you feel exhausted and helpless. President is sexist and elitist and is getting paid too much to run the college into the ground. Oh, and if you're a female, get ready to be marginalized. Everything is advertised and directed towards men and...
Read moreI spent some time considering if and how I would continue my education.
I have an educational background in a highly technical field that I studied to ensure my financial success. I achieved a degree of success in that regard, but could not escape the feeling that I lacked a well-rounded perspective.
After touring the beautiful campus grounds in Chambersburg I decided to further my education by pursuing the study of liberal arts as a non-traditional-student. Another thing that appealed to me was the tuition. I could afford to study for a semester with just a few weeks worth of my own labor! I decided to enroll.
Unfortunately, I have to tell you that my semester did not go according to plan.
On two occasions I was escorted off campus by security. Both times I informed them that I was a student and presented my Campus ID. After each occasion, I would inform the administration of what transpired, but they offered no explanation. I could not fight the feeling of being unwelcome in this place and lost the desire to continue my education here.
I hope your experience here will be better than mine, and I must let you know my opinion: the Govermen should have no right to tell young men what they can put...
