5 stars! The San Jacinto Monument Museum is a must-see for any family visiting Houston. It is a great place to learn about the history of Texas and the Battle of San Jacinto, which was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution.
The museum has a variety of exhibits that are informative and engaging for all ages. There are interactive displays, artifacts, and facts about the people involved that tell the story of the battle and its aftermath. The museum also has a number of educational programs and activities that are perfect for families.
We had a fantastic time at the San Jacinto Monument Museum. Our kids were especially interested in the binoculars that were placed in the fifth floor overlooking the surroundings and houston skyline. They were also fascinated by the artifacts, such as the hand cannons and uniforms that were used in the battle. We even made it a interactive fact game and the winner would get a cool prize front Buc-ees, which is a ferry trip and probably about 8 minutes away in Baytown.
We would highly recommend the San Jacinto Monument Museum to anyone looking for a fun and educational experience. It is a great place to learn about Texas history and to appreciate the sacrifices that were made for our independence.

Read moreThe monument is really impressive. Good low-cost educational and also somewhat exciting excursion. The film is well produced and edited and presents a side of Texas history I never knew. It was pretty fascinating. The artifacts are awesome too. Its not a large museum. It's just enough. It was pretty cool to be able to go up to the observation deck. If anything. We took a large group of kids(61 to be exact) on a rainy day and they were extremely patient with us. If anything, I would recommend outdoor seating, but I also understand why they don't do that. It's a historical monument which should be reverenced more than a park or picnic grounds. The scenery on the way is, of course, the bread and butter of the Houston economy- oil refineries. Not picturesque, but the truth is, it forces you to remember this part of the backbone of our nations economic prosperity, so...The actual monument grounds are gorgeous and the view is amazing. We enjoyed the trip there. I recommend it. Plan to spend 2-3 hours here if you see the film, read about some of the artifacts, go up, and visit...
Read moreThe entire museum tour is fantastic. I enjoyed the experience tremendously. I was able to tour some of the grounds as well. I visited the Sun Dial I never knew was there and the cemetery. I noticed some of the markers around the grounds. This place is loaded with history. One thing I have to say is the employee at the desk was very polite and enjoyable to speak with. Although this is a very interesting exhibit and can lead to excitement as people see the many artifacts. People should also understand the exhibit should be treated as a solemn experience. Many many people gave their lives to secure Texas as an independent republic. Especially at the Alamo. There is a tremendous amount of history here. Take your time to read as much of the information as you can. The admission is incredibly reasonable too. Unfortunately the museum was short handed and I didn't get to go up to the observation area. I'll be returning again and look forward to spending more time to view the exhibits. I even learned a few things I...
