Crosstowne Church — Attraction in Charleston

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We are locals who have been burned and outcast by almost every church and this one is no different. Walked in (with my Service Dog) and got nothing but stares. No greetings. Nothing. I had to find someone and have them help me check my grade school child in. She was nice but still. Go find our seats. Go thru the singing. I know Jesus. I feel Jesus. He always makes His presence known to me. There's a calmness and hope when He's there. He wraps Himself around me and settles me. There was no Jesus in this building. The preacher. Well idk what he was preaching. One bible verse was used. Nothing about Jesus. The whole thing was about politics statistics and sports. I get the references he was using. But nothing out of the Bible. This was a Christian newscast at best. This is not a church for you if you are different then the typical all American family. Or maybe this is the church for you if you like that the preacher isn't talking and getting real about sins and being more like Jesus. But this is not the place to go if you need help, this is not the place to fill the void if you're feeling empty, and this is not the place you go if you need a friend because you are lonely and lost. After my family got in the car and we all shared our feelings about this church, my youngest son asked, "isn't church the place you're supposed to go where you don't get judged?" I am from NY, and visit family in Charleston. A couple of years ago, I was fortunate and was able to stay on Folly Beach for 3 months. Prior to that visit, I read an article from the Post Courier about Crosstowne Church and started to attend the early Sunday Service. Visited this church for the first time. Loved it. It’s Bible based, pastor went through at least 6 scriptures, pastor did touch topics that some people afraid to touch and he is not afraid of talking about it. I like that about him. Good teaching.
