Palmetto Goodwill — Local services in Charleston

WELL HERE IS A DOOZY OF A SCENARIO! I BUY AND SELL IN THE SIDE AND GOODWILL IS A PLACE I FREQUENTLY VISIT!FIRST TIM THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED! I’m shopping going on 2 hrs and I’ve found several awesome items. One being An antique oil lamp that was converted into an electrical lamp. It was easily turn of the century with the seams,applied tops,and etching.also found and original painting by Betty condon!anywho I leave my buggy on the floor and go to use the restroom.when I come back buggy is gone.i look and look. And finally ask this guy name Alex if he took my cart thinking I had left,the time to do number 1 and back is all I’m gone. He says no, now I’m getting upset because cashier says nothing has come through and it’s not back on shelf so it’s got to be in the back where Alex took it. So I press Alex and say only logical explanation is it’s in the back. So he says he will check this time, sure enough here he comes with my cart, BUT MY OIL LAMP AND ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS IS GONE! I asked Alex who took my car back there. He said he did. I was like well. I wasn’t even gone five minutes. It’s got to be back here so he goes back there again comes out. He’s like I don’t know you must be mistaken. It’s not back there. I’m like Alex you took the cart back there. What did you do with the lamp when you took it out of the cart, he is still playing games! You don’t forget that quick. This guy is a dishonest thief! Goodwill is being taken advantage of, no way this guy doesn’t have other complaints! I’ve been looking for one of those lamps for years. I finally find one and this guy Alex takes it out my car hide it somewhere and says you don’t know what happened to it. There was a time in place years ago that I wouldn’t be writing a review I’ll probably be making bail to the executive branch of Goodwill. I am SO dissapointed. I shop at this goodwill 2-3 times a week and never had a problem. Tonight, a woman named audrey was working and i told her i needed to put my clothes up on the counter because i was buying so much and could not carry it all. She said that was fine. I spent over 2 hours with about 80 dollars worth of items to purchase. I went up to the counter and ahe had put it all away! I asked her nicely why as thats why i asked her if i could out it up there and she was incredibly rude saying "i ain't know where you put your clothes so i puttem away". I asked her nicely to help me fimd them as I spent 2 HOURS trying them on and she rudely saod "i ain't searching through all these clothes, you can find them yourself." I left the store crying. I will never return to this store because of the hoerible customer service audrey gave. I worked in customer service for years and that was HORRIBLE treatment. IF i even decide to go back, i will rake the extra half hour to go to mt. Pleasant where they workers are respectful and take care of their customers. Incredibly disappointed with this lady who definitely needs more training...

Love, love, love this Goodwill. The only downside to this location is whoever they have appraising donations in the back does mark things up a little compared to other Goodwill locations. They do have nice and/or brand new things however, so you can't totally blame them for asking for a few extra dollars. Also, I have to give the cashiers and floor staff mad props for dealing with some of the customers who come here looking for steals. I watched a woman verbally fight with a cashier over keeping the clothes hangers with the clothes she just bought. I have never gone home with clothes hangers from Goodwill and this lady was acting like she was due all twenty of them - The customer demanded to see the manager and everything. So please, if you go, respect the staff as I'm pretty sure the cashier she was fighting with was...
