Freedom Park Lakeside — Attraction in Charlotte

I have been going to this park since I was a small child. I always enjoyed fishing here (catch and release). Its a calm environment. Great place to roller blade, skate, bike or jog. There is a nature trail which is awesome. There is always something going on out here. Its simply awesome!

Fun fact. If the record still holds, the largest fish caught in the city limits was caught here. I think it was 20lbs (a catfish). I was there the day that a older gentleman caught him. This is one of my favorite parks nearby. It’s not because it’s out of the world or anything. It’s a decent park with a balance of playgrounds, children’s play area, woods, a lake, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a dog park. I mean, this is a whole package, no doubt. I love running, so I enjoy running in the woods behind and around the lake. A lot of fitness classes, festivals, art exhibitions etc happen here and it is bang in the middle of many posh neighborhoods and closer to uptown. Nice spring walk around the lake. Warm in the sun, cool in the shade. Park was well kept except one end of lake where a lot of trash and debris was collecting. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and keeping distance and for the most part, considerate of others. The park is huge with plenty of opportunity to stretch ones legs and bike riding options.
