As dog parks go, this place is really okay. Lots of Running Room, grassy areas, benches for people, well fenced-in, double entry way to prevent any entry or exit problems, and away from any roads or buildings. So why is this place really okay instead of great? Because it needs a decent amount of attention. There's a broken hinge on the front door, which is really heavy that makes the whole thing feel like it's about to collapse. There was a "closed due to covid-19" sign, but it was way out of the way, which makes me think somebody just forgot to take it down when it reopened. The wooden part of the benches could use a little bit of sanding to get rid of some splinters and maybe another coat of paint. But nothing too bad, and quite frankly the dogs couldn't care less - again, there's tons of room for them to run around in. This was our first time there, but if it becomes a regular stop I could see us bringing some screws, drill, some paint... just to fix the place up ourselves. But it would be really nice if the parks department, who's really well equipped to do the sort of thing, would take care of these small problems. Because then, this would be a...
Read moreI love this park. The large dog park is massive and gives my dog plenty of space to run. The other owns are so friendly, I’ve made lovely acquaintances here. I like that is a safe space for new dog owners who are learning. People are forgiving, but still jump in to correct bad behaviour when necessary.
There are of course a few issues: 1. The park gets EXTREMELY muddy during rainy seasons. They put wood chips down, but it needs better maintenance. 2. There is a water fountain that does not work anymore. I wish the park owners would come do some basic maintenance. 3. There are no poop bags, but there are cans. 4. The occasional dog owner will show up that does not make a big enough effort to prevent their dog for potentially harmful behaviour. However, most owners at this park seem to take ownership in the events of dogs...
Read moreThis place is extremely large. Which is probably the biggest thing it has going for it. In fact, the fact that it's so large makes it part of the problem as well. A lot of the times when your dog goes to the very far end, a lot of people tend to not keep an eye on the dog. The corners of the park has a lot of untouched feces so you have to be careful where you step. But there's always a very large number of tennis balls left over and this is my go-to park. There's a small park for small dogs, but most of the time the small dogs join the large dogs in the big park. The small park is pretty much left as a space for owners with dogs that don't socialize well...
