This place is best visited in spring or summer, when the different areas truly look different. In the fall or winter, it's nothing special.
But there is some good variety. A bridge to go across (which is currently broken) that takes you across a creek to some more trails on the other side, some areas with very dense plants and others with more spread out trees, and a hill with paths on it, along with a long path alongside a creek with multiple paths branching from it leading to different parts of the woods. It's a nice little place with a bit of this and a bit of that.
The layout can be confusing on the first few visits, but it's easy to figure out.
There's even a large dirt hill to climb near the entrance!
UPDATE 2022: There used to be a bridge across a creek, connecting two different areas with very different layouts. However, it's been broken for over a year, and still hasn't been fixed. There's still a lot to walk around in otherwise, but the other area was nice to visit, and now, visiting it is far...
Read morePretty peaceful, but so much poison ivy everywhere! This was our first time here and we got so lost. We started at Blue trail then there were a few intersections that all over to blue which was confusing then there was a down tree blocking the path. Turned around and tried to make the same turns to get back but we got lost and ended up on a long grass trail then we doing a yellow trail that led to an intersection of green or orange. When I turned around to see what trail we were on there was no color marker so I'm not sure it was still yellow. On the orange trail there was another down tree but this one we were able to climb over and through the branches. Aside from those it was nice and peaceful, but I will not be bringing my dog...
Read moreI agree with Nick's review... My son and I decided to hike here yesterday... It's scenic and pretty but the trails are poorly marked and maintained...we spent more time looking at our feet to avoid tripping on all the roots.. At times it was hard to see the path because of the overgrowth... The color markers made no sense and we wound up lost and exhausted after 3 miles.. we exited through an abandoned house on Springdale Rd..We walked to the Springdale market and got a ride to our car from a very nice woman who happened to live on Kresson..Thank you Jean.. We won't be doing these trails again until they make much needed...
