The waterfall is about a 20 minute/ half-hour walk from the parking lot/ trail map, not too bad, but it is all mostly going straight uphill. The path is a round-about though so there's 2 ways you can get to the Waterfall and one continuous path that you can follow all the way around. I couldn't get too close to the waterfall myself because I had literally just saw the people in front of me step on a wasps nest and get stung all over so I wanted to avoid that the best I could and all the wasps seemed to be closer to the falls....I still got an amazing view from pretty far away though!. Can't wait to head back there and check out what it's like during the winter!

Roaring Brook Falls in Cheshire, CT was the most challenging stop on our Connecticut Waterfall Road Trip. The red trail climbs steeply, nearly straight up, and earns a solid 10 out of 10 for difficulty. Every direction is uphill, and what goes up must come down, so be prepared for a serious workout. The waterfall itself is tall and majestic, but during our summer visit, the dense foliage made it hard to fully appreciate. For the best views, we’d recommend coming in early spring or late autumn when the leaves are sparse and the water flow is strong. A powerful waterfall for seasoned hikers, but not for the faint of heart.

I’ve lived in Cheshire for over 2 years and had no clue about this trail. A definite hidden gem that I can’t wait to keep visiting. The trail can either be out and back or a loop. One part of the trail is EXTREMELY steep, but rewardingly challenging if you are up for it. The other part of the trail is more moderate and doable if you do not want to go up the steep side. There is a really small space for 2 parking spots. Otherwise, cars line up on the side of the road to park. We went during the morning of Fourth of July and while there were at least 5-6 cars parked we only came across a few other people on the trail.
