Pattaconk Recreation Area (Cockaponset State Forest) — Attraction in Chester

I have been visiting this area since a child since my mom is from Higganum. It’s a great place on weekdays when there is less traffic and people the only down side is others not following the “Leash Law” with their dogs!!!!!! I have had SEVERAL encounters and my dog unfortunately is not dog friendly since she has been attacked by another dog and is a rescue. I keep her leashed and can hold her back without an issue. We need others to respect the state law and follow the rules. Please...

I came here in early spring and it was a great place for an easy hike / walk in the woods. The trails were well kept, unfortunately there was a decent amount of litter which is a shame when people do that, but still a very beautiful and peaceful area. I did find myself stopping every once in a while to see exactly where the trail was, this was just because there wasn't much on the forest floors in some spots but still an easy trail to follow.
