Brian McLeod may be a troll or one of those people "looking for a fight" before even walking in the doors. If these assumptions are totally wrong, then I personally apologize to Brian.
The Crossing is one of the most open and loving churches I've ever attended. Yes, Pastor Greg and the staff at The Crossing follow the Bible completely, and are firm where necessary and must call sin a sin, but they also practice Christian love, and ANYONE is welcome to attend no matter what their religion is or where they are in their spiritual walk (yes, this even includes atheists and agnostics wondering if Jesus is real). Take a listen to some of The Crossing's podcasts on their website, and and you can hear Pastor Greg frequently addressing these people who still haven't committed fully to Christ (again, they can be from other religions, agnostics, who have been hurt by other churches, etc.) but are attending The Crossing out of curiosity. The staff and church members here have always been super friendly and gushingly accommodating. I've yet to come across a single church goer here who is "holier-than-thou". We're ALL just regular people who are broken and flawed and in need of a Savior. I don't know if Brian will ever come back to read this review, but if he does, I want to personally invite him to come back to The Crossing.
What do I like about The Crossing? So many things! Pastor Greg Holder's messages are real, relatable, Bible-based, deep, and are almost always challenging. I've been to a few other non-denominational churches around the area; and while they may have Spirit-filled worship sessions, the sermons are frequently shallow, really don't teach much, and are just "rah rah" speeches. Greg's sermons "hit you in the gut" and make you think and challenge you in various areas of your life and to get closer to God. The folks here are incredible! The staff is always ready to help in whatever way they can. The Crossing's atmosphere is sooooo relaxed and easy-going! Just walk in as you are dressed (t-shirt and jeans are more than okay) or where ever you are spiritually (even if you have questions about Jesus) and you can always talk to any of us attendees. It truly feels like "home."
We love you and hope to see you this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJan Sprunger is writing this: We attended another church for 30+years and felt we needed to search for a new one since the facility was far away from our home which makes it hard to become active in the church. We have fallen in love with this church, even though it is much bigger than what we are used to. However, we find that we hate to miss the teachings and I know I have learned so much. It took a while to get connected, but volunteering helped a lot and finding a small group to connect with weekly. Now we have a study group that has become more of community.
I was saddened to hear about Brian's experience, especially since I consider this church to be very open to all. I have personally heard our lead pastor say, many times, that we welcome all-- unbelievers, faiths, atheists, and gays. The pastor has shared that he has close friends that live the lifestyle Brian was talking about. I personally have sat behind a gay couple at this church. We do look to the Bible as God's word and guidance for our lives and how we should live. We don't apologize for that. For we are all sinners and need God's forgiveness and fallen short of what God's purpose is for our lives. Understanding that, I am so thankful that God does forgive me and that I have Him to hang on to when the going gets rough. And I'm told, "He never lets go." This church continually teaches that truth.
It is just amazing to me how quickly this church has grown. It seems that God is doing something special at this church because when we visited they had just opened the Fenton campus. Now there is also a Mid Rivers campus. We've only been here for about 5-6 years now. My granddaughter loves to go to Kidz Crossing (she's only 3 now). The children's program is awesome. I wish I had that when I went to sunday school growing up!
I can't say enough, except I'm thankful I was able to find "The Crossing" as my new home. I call it a "God thing" that I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I drove out to this location from Valley Park while trying to find the right church for us. The very first service was absolutely amazing along with every service we have attended since. We have only been attending for a few months but I can see us being there for years to come. The lead pastor is amazing and creates a wonderful service which one can truly enjoy and learn at the same time. There is no pressure or judgment felt and the pastor seems to lean towards "hey, we are all in this thing together." which makes it easier as I feel like we are taking each step together.
Also, this church is very large and so the main room fills rather quickly. Our first service was located in an overfill room where we watched the service on a big screen.... it was actually pretty cool and nothing was lost from the service. If you are looking to attend this church there are three locations and you can go on their website to watch the service live. I...
