The volunteers are very courteous and attentive, but will also let you meander throughout exhibits as long as they know you know to not touch ANYTHING as some of the aircraft are maintained and flown regularly.
Did you know they also have A NASA outer space exhibit inside it's own enclosed, heavily supervised enclosure? They also have an enormous display of a local's collection of meticulously crafted model cars that spans the automobile's entire history to date.
The most unique item on display, which is a feat of engineering for it's time, I'll not spoil for anyone except to say you'll know where else Swiss Army technology got its start, and you'll be surprised and impressed by that display alone.
My reason for only 4 stars might be a problem for some folks: if you're visiting mid Summer it gets quite warm inside that retired hangar and can be uncomfortable for anyone susceptible to heat. Plan to visit when it's cooler in the day or year if that's you.
Excepting that, you'll have quite an adventure and lots of nostalgia. You might even get graced with a personal story or two from the guides all of whom enjoy their volunteer time with visitors and only ask for a donation of your choosing and to sign their guest...
Read moreSuch an amazing place! The boys had a blast when the family we are visiting took us here from out of town. Definitely planning on going again to spend a lunch together while the kids play outside. They have a cute little playground amongst the grounded titans that are on display as part of the aero appreciation experience. So many models to learn about and observe, and even being able to see and sit inside really helps you understand more about the machines and the men and women that operate them. They even have a really cool space section that's being expanded as well.
