This was the first in a self-guided winery tour of four in the area, chosen by a friend with experiences at many more than these four wineries - so kind of like the final-four not a random four - overall rating would be about a 3.8.
The owners and staff here are all really great, 5 stars in that category. This is a beautiful outdoor space, with a lot of nice shaded tent areas - quite pleasant. To be fair, we did not have any food.
We did, however, try 12 of their wines - more of the drier ones, but a mix. This was also the most (of the 4) estate grown and regional-varietal-centric winery. One should not expect this to be like west coast wines. Although pretty good as compared to other regional wines, the wines at this winery do not generally compare on that level. IMO their estate whites were pretty good, and the Nakomis (a red) are their best traditional offerings.
In contrast with the other wineries we visited, Winehaven also gets outside the traditional grape-based wines. We only tried the raspberry one, which was an interesting beverage along the lines of an apertif. If you or members of your party enjoy trying these kinds of creations, or possibly for use in cocktails; this would be a great place to visit for both tradiitional classic grape wines, and the other flavors and...
Read moreWinehaven Winery is the absolute perfect place for a fairy-tale wedding. It is family owned and they were so extremely accommodating. They made me feel like I was the only bride they were working with even though I know they have countless weddings and events there. They opened the venue early for the wedding party and I to get our hair done in the upstairs area/bridal suite and allowed us to bring in our own breakfast and lunch. We had the whole upstairs for ourselves! Amy Perrin was amazing at answering my questions and coordinating every last detail. She was onsite the whole time to ensure everything was flawless. I especially loved the outdoor ceremony location (incredible pictures, very convenient for guests, and you can't hear the traffic from the freeway) and the ability to move inside if the weather didn't cooperate. They allowed us to bring in lawn games for the social hour and we were able to securely leave vehicles in the parking lot overnight when they shut the gate. The owners even took pictures of our ceremony and texted them to me the next day - they truly go above and beyond to make your day special (and it doesn't hurt that their wine is delicious :) I would...
Read moreWe were so excited about the slushy day and went there as a plan for the part of our day. Getting there, we were rudely greeted, the woman just stared at us. When we placed our order, the woman punched in our order, left to get our slushies and came back with them half full. She spun her computer around asking for a tip and after I signed, she spun it back around and did not thank us, no smile, no thanks for coming, absolutely rude. We went out to drink them on the patio (we assumed that nobody got full glasses.) We watched nearly everyone come out with slushies full to the top of their glasses. We paid for full slushies and had perhaps half the monies worth of them. We understand that events like this are tiring and maybe monotonous for the workers, but I have worked in customer service my whole life and I'd never treat anyone the way we were treated. Winehaven should not keep workers like this. Any other time we have been there, the service...
