Madera park is everything that a park should be. Its centerpiece is a playground with three play structures, small, medium, and large, to accommodate children of different ages. These feature slides, ladders, monkey bars, and other attractions that children love. Two climbing structures are lots of fun. Children who are tired of climbing can relax on the swing set. There are also several benches where parents can sit and watch. Oak trees provide shade to keep the park cool in the summer, and drop gold and orange leaves in the fall.

The playground is surrounded by sports facilities. There is a wide open field that hosts youth soccer games in the fall. There are three baseball diamonds for little league. There is a tennis court, and the Sacramento Kings recently renovated a basketball court. A paved path that encircles the park is a great place for pushing a stroller or just taking a stroll.

All in all, is hard to imagine a...

The problem with this place is the same problem with EVERY place....the other people who come to this park! What happened to all of us that we are SO completely and hopelessly self-absorbed? So much so we have no idea that we are constantly screwing up someone else's day--doing some banality, some triviality that bamboozles completely the intentions of strangers! And the kicker? When they tell us or gesture to us or glare at us the blunder of our ways what do we do? We snide. We lash out and blame our folly on them! That is how it has to be, though, the cycle has to be complete. Its not enough for our controlling subconscious to simply make the lives of strangers more difficult. That wont give us the satisfaction that also making them feel horrible about themselves will. Hehe, I mean, thats what it's all about, right? Hate...

I was hesitant to come back here. My family visited back in 2017/2018 and my then 2y old went down a steep slide that had a deep pit dug out under it. He picked up so much speed and there was no runway at the bottom that once he reached the end, he literally flew several feet through the air. His teeth punctured through the skin below his lower lip and he needed stitches to fix it. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the play structures have been updated to newer ones and I no longer have to worry about the steep slide. No sand, swings for both big kids and babies, a few benches around the playground area and picnic tables farther into the large grassy area, almost fully fenced playground area, and bathrooms across the parking...

Took our 1 year old here to play on the swings and the slide, but were disappointed to find that some things were in desperate need of repair. The tall slide was boarded up just on the top entrance and at the bottom (not particularly safely for curious children). Then the two plastic play animals were missing huge chunks and merely had wooden caution signs, but could still be easily accessed by a child. I've only been to this park a few times, but I love how spacious and beautiful it is. However, please repair the play structures for the safety of the children that play here. It's a hazard.

This is an excellent place to make a reservation for a large party picnic. The playground was close enough for the parents to keep an eye on their kids. The BBQ was big and we were able to have a cookout. We'll be back next year! (Please be cautious of the several homeless men sheltering in the corner at the end of Wonder St. They didn't cause us any trouble but you might just want to make sure you're kids don't play in that corner of the park - not much there anyway.)
