It's very sad to see this lovely piece of history left to crumble. They don't call it the Castle On The Hill for nothing. You can see it from miles away and it does resemble a castle. It'd be nice to see this turned into a museum— possibly a museum having to do with medical things, considering it used to be an inebriate asylum and it's located on a medical campus. You cannot go inside right now, though I would love to. The view from the hill where it sits is spectacular.

EDIT: Went up there to view the eclipse. Unfortunately clouds ruined the actual viewing, but I got some wonderful photos. And found that it does have an information plaque, which is unfortunately...

A super cool piece of history and a very interesting building. It’s abandoned and guarded (a police officer was eyeing us the whole time while we were taking pictures), so don’t get any ideas about going in. I think Binghamton University owns it now, so hopefully they turn it into something. It would be a shame for such a cool building...

They should definitely have tours of that place and the whole area! I’ve been there once and have been dying to go back! The buildings are beautiful but have a spooky vibe as well (which I personally LOVE). In my option definitely is haunted and think it would be a nice place to do a haunted tour! Definitely nothing like it...

Marvelous structure with rich history, fenced off but with plenty of parking. Neat spot and so many period details to observe, but clearly a nuisance attraction to SUNY and campus police cruised my car and my activities while I had an innocent walk around. If they follow through with renovations, great.
