I will start out by saying that someone gave a 1 star review and said the penguins looked neglected, but in a photo I will share you can see that they are under vet care at the moment and thats probably why they dont look the best, but it did look like a poor set up for them and they seemed hot trying to find shade.

It's more "Park" than a "Zoo" and thats ok if you are looking for a nature trail with some exotic animals. Its almost like paying $1.00 per animal at an entrance rate of $7.00(on sale) per person. A LOT was closed off (probably bc of covid) and even though we took our time it only took us about an hour and a half to walk it all. They also had some statues that we were told were antique and should not be touched even though most was not closed off and one would think the place would be kid friendly. Their are some play grounds were everyone is really close so having multiple walk ways closed is a bit redundant. They had some food to buy, but we didnt bother to stop as it was small. They arnt letting anyone buy feed to feed the animals bc of some state thing(in photos). They had some nice art and project dont by scouts. They seem like they are trying to make the garden nicer with some plants that seem to be fresh planted. I like their white peacock that had it feathers out by the bathrooms. A lot of things were also out of order, but the staff we met today were really nice or at least their customer service voice was on point.

Honestly over all could be more kid friendy with things for them and things like the "chipmunk trail" and just more engaging in general. A really nice natural park though. Also should make a scavenger hunt to see if kids can spot all of the random bird houses through out the park. Hope to see future improvements.

Also the "Ross Park Zoo visitor improvement project" that is posted, is no longer...

Although, it does not have a lot to show but one of the standout features of the Ross Park Zoo is the diverse range of animal exhibits. From majestic big cats to playful primates and fascinating reptiles, the zoo offers a captivating collection of wildlife. Each exhibit was thoughtfully designed to provide the animals with spacious and natural habitats, allowing visitors to observe them in a comfortable and respectful manner. It was truly a joy to see these beautiful creatures up close and learn about their conservation efforts.

The layout of the zoo was well-planned and easy to navigate. The pathways were clearly marked, and there were informative signs at each exhibit, providing interesting facts and details about the animals. It was evident that the staff members had put a lot of effort into creating an educational and engaging experience for visitors of all ages.

Another highlight of the Ross Park Zoo was the well-maintained facilities and amenities. The park was clean, and the animal enclosures were well-kept. There were plenty of shaded areas and benches for visitors to rest and take in the beautiful surroundings. The gift shop offered a variety of souvenirs and educational materials, providing an opportunity to support the zoo’s mission even after leaving.

The staff at the Ross Park Zoo were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the animals in their care. They were always available to answer questions, share insights, and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Their dedication and commitment to the well-being of the animals were evident...

I work with an agency that supports people with disabilities. We went to attend the "free day" event that was held at the Ross Park Zoo, it was a great event! I needed help with pushing a wheelchair around the hilly terrain. I stopped at the gift shop and asked a staff member if I could get assistance with pushing a disabled person around the zoo and up the big hill especially. Keaton was AMAZING! He stopped what he was doing and actually helped push the person in the wheelchair throughout the entire zoo!! We are so thankful to KEATON!! Without him we would not have been able to experience the zoo! He enhanced our experience and made the experience more wonderful by sharing the names of the animals and different facts about the zoo and the animals along the way, which was phenomenal! It was great for the person who had special needs, as it really got her into the experience as well. KEATON was great, we had such a good time and are thankful for the event and all of Keaton's help! It was a very busy and hot day out but Keaton had a great attitude the entire time, was willing to help, and enhanced the experience for us even. Thank you greenlight and Ross Park zoo for the free day. Heather at face painting was great as well. The entire staff was very friendly and thanks again to Keaton for being so accommodating to us and allowing us to not only experience the event but have such a great experience. We very much...

This is a cute little zoo, but it could use some TLC. It’s on the smaller side—we spent about 45 minutes walking through and took our time. The animal selection was nice, though we did notice a strong smell around some of the enclosures. That might be because you can get closer to the animals here than at most zoos, which is both unique and surprising. I loved seeing the wolves, artic fox, red pandas, and I learned that porcupines can climb (who knew!?) It was also neat to see the peacocks full plumage open! Some areas of the grounds, like the garden statues, are a bit worn and could definitely use a refresh. That said, I really liked the little hidden shack along the walking path—it made for a cute photo op! The staff was friendly, there was no wait to get in, and the admission price is super reasonable. I think the zoo has a lot of potential to grow and probably just needs a bit more funding to really shine. I was even thinking a variety of animal encounters (even for an extra fee) might help with fundraising—but I get that it’s probably more complicated than it sounds. If you have kiddos, it’s definitely worth a quick visit!

My friend and I went to the zoo today. They had an event called read with the lemurs. It was very educational, they sang songs and even had a craft at the end that you could bring home if you didn't want to do it there. All the staff was very friendly in the animals are beautiful. The last time I went to the zoo they didn't have a tram to help you to the top because it is a big incline. My friend uses a wheelchair so when we saw the tram we were excited! There was an exceptional staff named Keaton that drove the tram for us. I shared a video of my friends reaction with his first ride in the tram. I think he likes it! On the way back down there was some other people with us they had problems with ambulation. They were very friendly as well. On the way down the hill Keaton drove very slow so that we could see some of the exhibits that we couldn't because of the incline. He was so knowledgeable and friendly and excited to share his info. He even posed in a picture with my friend ❤️ kudos to the Ross Park zoo for assisting people with ambulation difficulties. We will be planning a trip back soon thank you guys
