My family and friends tried to eat at The Oar House at Redbud Marina at Oolagah Lake last night, May 29, 2022, but my 8 year old daughter got hurt due to their negligence. The manager and/or owner didn’t care about my daughter and they didn’t care to find solutions to the danger, so we left.
There was a 6”+ gap between the floating patio and the floating restaurant. It was impossible to see the gap when walking down the walkway. Her right leg went through the gap and her left leg caught her. There are scrapes and bruises up her right leg today. There was one sweet waitress who offered us ice and asked if she was ok. I tried to tell the manager what happened but she didn’t let me finish and responded defensively with excuses. The first thing she said about it was, “There is no problem with it.” Once I realized the manager was not apologizing or promising to fix the gap to prevent others from falling (or potentially my 1 year old who could fit through the hole and fall into the lake) I lost my cool. She never offered a solution, just excuses. The owner never offered solutions, just excuses. We will never frequent the establishment again. They obviously do not care about their customers safety, so even with a hole fixed I would never trust them to make my family’s food.
Good luck to the patrons who visit this establishment. I encourage you to watch your footing and hold onto your little ones as I can promise you this was not a safe place to be.
I’ve added photos of my daughters leg. There are more that are not appropriate to post on the internet. Lastly, she was completely embarrassed that she fell through, she has been physically hurting since the incident, and at the time of the incident, she was very surprised to see that the manager could say there was not a problem...
Read moreA favorite place for us to go on days with fairly restrained summer temperatures. The 80's are perfect as the temps were this past Saturday. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The food is very good. Portions are generous. Be prepared to wait for a while to get your food. The lake is perfect for paddle boarding. There are boats and jet skis moving about, but they are not that plentiful and stay well out of the way of slow travelers like ourselves. The new to us feature of reserving boards and kayaks on their website is wonderful. So easy to do. If we knew about it, we would have reserved in advance and not have worried about the availability of the boards and kayaks. Even so, it was a snap to make reservations for a little later in the day. And we spent the time at the nearby beach. $5 to enter there but worth it for a dip in the lake. We always have a good time at...
Read moreFishing was fun! The marina staff were friendly, nice, and helpful. Thought it was cool you could rent kayaks for $15/ hour, and they have plenty of decently priced gear if you forget something. The facility was very clean and well enough kept given that the lake was very high. 4/5 stars because the dogs on a leesh rule should be more properly enforced. Someone had their dog off a leesh and mine went after it because it approached me. His leesh got caught on my leg and gave me a nasty, and rather large rope burn that I've had to go to the doctor 3 times this week to be treated for. Just because your dog is friendly to you, doesnt mean it will be to other people or their dogs. It's a legitimate safety reason. I realize the marina can't control every person, but those people had 2 dogs with them and neither had a leesh. It ruined the rest of our day, and my week, and we had to leave...
