Fernan Lake Natural Area — Attraction in Coeur d'Alene

Excellent place to escape humans. You can enjoy endless exploring and nature. You can literally stay up in the mountains and drive from Idaho to Montana without leaving the mountains. Anyone deciding to come to Idaho I suggest this as Idaho is no longer the beautiful nice friendly welcoming place it once was. It's now full of nasty rich inconsiderate and greedy folk. All the Idahoans that made it a great place have been robbed and chased away. Sad sad sad but true. What remains of the scenery not being ripped out and replaced by turnabouts and apartments( future ghettos)is beautiful but the people suck!!...

This is a beautiful area to enjoy the lake, do some fishing, picnic, or launch a boat. Being so close to town you can expect it to be a fairly high traffic area but there is typically plenty of space to find your own spot for fishing or relaxing on the grass. There are two docks, one with a bench and a few fishing tables. A large parking area is conveniently located just a short walk from the water. We took our children on this great foot trail. Appreciate the winding path and the refreshing forest area. Took the path down to the lake. Admired the beautiful fish in the clear water and the abundant wildflowers. There were also wild raspberries and blackberries. Our only suggestion for making the trail better is for clear signs of the trail from the top. It was apparent there use to be a sign with maps but the board asn't...
