Took my kiddos on a Saturday in July and they enjoyed the library. Highlights included the POTUS limo, airplane and Marine 1. For me the piece of the Berlin Wall was surreal and the yellow ribbon of the gulf war was a stark reminder of a stressful time as a child when we were at war. My littlest loved the little dog houses with fun facts and a little stuffed replica of 41's dog. This kept her entertained while the bigs of course gravitated to the screens.
Recommend doing the short video off the main rotunda first and then exiting the side near the screen to enter directly to the exhibits. Once you complete the main library and museum there is a small gift shop. Suggest doing the walk around the pond or visiting the grave area next even on a hot day, there is some shade. Ramp for strollers or those with mobility challenges, about 20 steps if not, then it is about a quarter mile walk. The view coming back of the library grounds including the large inscription on the back is great. Close out your visit with a stop in the newest building which houses 4141 the locomotive engine and Marine1 which is massive but cool to see up close.
Perhaps it feels smaller because 41 only had a single term but it definitely felt like a smaller Presidential library than others I have visited.
Allow about 2 hours to do quickly, 3-4 to be a bit more thorough, and 5+ if you are a read everything, listen to every video type historian person, lots there and I intent to go back some day I hope to catch even more when the kiddos will...
Read moreA MUST SEE!!! The history of George H.W. Bush, his family, Naval career and political career that are displayed here are absolutely amazing. Upon entry there is a beautiful memorial to the late Barbara Bush as well as a movie about her live. You can also sign a condolence book for the family. There is so much to learn that is not written in the history books. The docent gave a very informative lecture on the replica of the Oval Office which is just as it was when George Bush was President. There is an original Quill and ink well used to sign the Constitution of the United States on display as well as a personal collection of President Bush's books on George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. There is also the a ship that was a gift from Mikhail Gorbachev on display. The exhibit of Camp David, the Berlin wall and to sit in a replica of the Situation Room and receive an update on the Gulf War was also truly fascinating. The Barbara Bush Rose Garden was in full bloom. The assortment of flowers and colors was truly spectacular. Visiting the Bush family grave and paying respects to Barbara Bush and their daughter Robin (who died at age 3 from Leukemia) was very emotional. Barbara Bush was the pinnacle of elegance and class, a true First Lady in every sense...

Visiting the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library is a meaningful and educational experience. The museum offers an in-depth look at the life, presidency, and legacy of the 41st president. It is thoughtfully laid out, guiding visitors through major events in Bush's career, from his service in World War II to his time as vice president and president.
The exhibits are interactive, engaging, and rich with historical artifacts, including personal letters, photos, and multimedia displays. The section on the Gulf War and the end of the Cold War is particularly powerful, giving insight into Bush's diplomacy and leadership during pivotal global moments.
I also appreciated the tributes to his family life and values, which show the personal side of the former president. The outdoor grounds, with beautiful gardens and the gravesites of both George and Barbara Bush, offer a serene space for reflection.
Overall, this library is a must-visit for history buffs, students, or anyone interested in American politics and leadership. It presents a balanced, thoughtful perspective on a president who shaped the world at a crucial time. Highly...
