The food was good i had the burger it was really good a little burnt but pretty good just didn't feel like the pricing was right just felt like everything was too much for what it was but that could just be me i ain't hating on it just more of a lunch place not a dinner place in my honest opinion and the kitchen are always backed up and it takes a very long time to get your food the manger is a good man tho i liked him the servers and everything were fine i just couldn't justify the pricing it just felt too much i liked the burger other than being a bit burnt it was a good burger It might of been my fault as well cause i didn't ask for the way i wanted to be cooked other than that it was good i liked the bar and everything very nice just think the pricing is going to have to be very lowered for me to really wanna come back. Now getting back to the view it's amazing they have a very special restaurant and with a adjusting to the pricing and the quality of the food they bring this could be a very special restaurant i liked my food but i had better it doesn't feel like a 17$ burger was my main thing but i did really enjoy watching the planes take off it's great for any airplane lovers and you also get to see the Navy take off and all of that fun stuff it's very nice of a view i must say and i am trying to be as nice as i can with my comment i didn't have a awful time just feel like the quality need's to go higher with way adjusted food pricing it doesn't feel fancy enough to justify for what I paid. The other thing i hated was the server didn't give any bar menu's we had to ask for them i just don't feel that we should have to ask for a bar menu but that's just me. They still having something special but they have to adjust the food quality and use more flavor in the food and reduce the prices as well and then It'll be perfection truly I can't say this more it's a very special Restaurant and has amazing views...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to have lunch at Gate 12 Bar & Grill. We arrived around 11:45 on a Saturday morning. There weren't any big events going on in Aggieland so our timing was perfect.
Gate 12 is located in the old Easterwood Terminal. Cody Whitten and his crew did a great job converting the old terminal into a very nice space.
The only minor problem is that the noise in the dining room that looks out onto the runways reverberates on the hard surfaces and can be very loud and annoying when filled with diners. If you have someone in your party who has hearing difficulties, I suggest you choose another dining room.
We enjoyed watching all the military planes fly in for lunch. Many private plants flew in as well as a group of Navy and Air Force planes. As each plane unloaded they headed right over for lunch.
We were served by Anthony who was amazing. My husband had salmon and I had crab stuffed shrimp. We both had mashed potatoes, broccolin, carrots and rice with black beans and corn. The rolls were freshly made. The portions were perfect and everything was delicious.
Anthony suggested we have a dessert. Thank you, Anthony! We had the chocolate-peanutbutter offering with their Columbian coffee. We savored each and every bite.
They have a well stocked bar. They have historical displays including the actual prop from the Enola Gay. Be sure to check out the inner dinning room to see a neat painting keeping with the aeronautical theme.
Reservations are required/recommended for Friday/Saturday night or when there are big events in Bryan/College Station.
This may be our new favorite spot for a really nice meal in a fun environment. We throughly enjoyed our food, the service and felt it was priced...
Read moreThe first time I'd been to Gate 12 with my son. Upon entering, it was a nice place. I personally would have preferred a booth, but instead, we were taken all the way to the back where you could see planes if they were coming in or flying out. Our waiter came and filled our water glasses and brought bread and dipping oils, which I found interesting, unique, and quite good. We decided we were just going to try different appetizers as a meal to share and see how they were. They waiter recommended some Buffalo chicken criquets, so we ordered those along with fried green tomatoes and grilled hamburger sliders with grilled onions. I requested cheese be added and potato skins. When the food arrived, there was no cheese on the burgers, but I must say, they were very well seasoned and tasty. At no given time were we offered any type of drink option until halfway through the meal, and I asked if they had anything else to drink besides water. He then offered what they had available. The chicken criquets were quite dry, the potato skins were bland, and the fried green tomatoes were a little on the tough side. We left what we didn't eat there instead of getting a to go box. I'm generally not one to critique to this extent, but as a once restaurant manager myself, I taught my employees steps to take. The first was exactly what the waiter did, bringing the bread and menus, the second asking what they would like to drink, giving the customers time to view the menu, and asking if they would like any appetizers to start out if they are ready to order. Just my thinking, he was very personable, but I think new. We still left him a good tip. It's just...
