As a working professional balancing a full-time job, a part-time job, family responsibilities, and a young child — all while overcoming a learning disability — the Penn State MBA Program exceeded every expectation I had for a graduate business education.
I entered the program with a 2.6 undergraduate GPA, fully aware that some questioned whether I was academically ready. I graduated with a 3.98 GPA, proving that the program rewards merit, resilience, and hard work — not just pedigree or prestige.
Penn State’s MBA, offered through the Smeal College of Business, provides an Ivy League–caliber education with less grade inflation and more accountability. Every grade I earned reflected real effort and mastery. Professors were supportive but demanded excellence. The curriculum was comprehensive and rigorous, focusing on leadership, strategy, analytics, and global business — all immediately applicable to my work as a professional engineer and department manager.
What truly sets the program apart is its accessibility without sacrificing rigor. Unlike some elite programs where politics or brand can overshadow performance, Penn State offered a grounded, real-world approach where you succeed based on merit.
If you're serious about transforming your career, growing as a leader, and proving to yourself what you're truly capable of, this MBA program will challenge and elevate you. It did for me — and I’ll carry that...
Read moreSo far I experience has been awful. I had my transcripts sent over in March 2017 so I could attend World Campus in the summer. They couldn't find my transcripts. I had them sent 3 times. in June I became very irate with this department and threatened to call the presidents office; then they found them. They had been there since March they confirmed. Now I missed the summer enrollment. I was told I am all set to sign up for classes for the fall. When I try I am told all of my accounting classes are in question and will require a syllabus. I begin to have this taken care of but, I can't sign up for any classes until this is complete. I am told by the admissions department I should forget about the three years I have spent in college and just start all over again with an entrance placement test at Penn. Obviously this isn't going to happen. Now it is October 2017. I call the admissions department because I haven't heard anything. I am told when I didn't sign up for classes the college un-enrolled me. There for they have not looked at any of the syllabus I have sent nor went forward with anything. Today I called the presidents office. I was treated very badly and told to send them an e mail and someone would look into it and get back to me; however they...
Read moreVery angry with this campus. Was attempting for my graduate (master) degree. Whenever I had a question my advisor always told me to figure it out myself. Instructors are rude. I guess they forgot the students are paying for their paychecks. Had to withdraw due to lack of help. I have been using my post 9/11 benefits and nothing but issues. If anyone has an advisor or instructor I hope it’s not in the RESS program. Horrible horrible communication. Dr. Schienke is a prime example of horrible leadership. Everytime I wrote him, his response was “this is a graduate course figure it out yourself”. If I didn’t need help, why would I ask my advisor? Most “Dr.’s act like they wear a white coat. Most instructors act like they are above everyone because of their degrees. Instead of helping students they lack the attitude to help students. 0/10 would never recommend. I kept giving the campus and instructors chances. In the end, just a set...
