PSU football fan had terrible experience at PSU Beaver Stadium (2025/09/13 vs. Villanova)... we encountered several issues and our overall experience was 2 out of 10 (so 1 out of 5 on this review gauge).

issues we had (several) in order of occurrence...

  1. overloaded cell phone network (Verizon), one of our party could not access their two tickets. so, they had to literally run back to our parking garage as game was quickly approaching to get Web access to two of our tickets (even though we had gotten to stadium w/about an hour prior to game time)... They were able to get access to tix, and they then ran back to stadium to meet up with us to enter the gate. however, the line was so incredibly long (see item 2, which is next) that by time we got to stadium ticket-takers, their web interface timed out and they lost access to their tickets. A stadium person finally saw us struggling and let us use stadium wi-fi, but that should be provided OUTSIDE stadium, too! we wasted about 45 mins to hour trying to get mess resolved. lots of people had this problem. if you are going to force people to use electronic tix (w/no snapshots/pictures), then you MUST simultaneously provide an environment that ENSURES absolutely that users can access those tickets...just horrible.

  2. Gate B was WAY to overloaded! We were told that one or more gates were closed due to construction, but then PSU should manage the situation! A) PSU didn't tell people what other gates could be used on other sides of the stadium...just ridiculous planning/communication. B) EVERYONE at Gate B was being cattle-herded thru a SINGLE security entrypoint...and there were literally hundreds of people amassed that were funneling into that SINGLE security entrypoint--picture a refugee crowd seeking food, and that's how crazy stupid the situation was. that was just unconscionable...who approved of that strategy?! thousands of people missed start of game, simply because PSU didn't have enough security entrypoints open for that mass of humanity. eventually (too late for us to make kickoff), PSU opened 5, 6, or 7 security entrypoints at that gate...but game was just a few minutes from starting...what on earth took PSU so long to assert common sense!!!

  3. Sections inside the stadium are VERY poorly labeled--had to have it explained to us--EXTREMELY poor labeling...we had to have multiple people explain the labeling to us, because we felt rushed trying to get to our seats, due to SO MANY people being smashed into a line to enter our seating section. unbelievably confusing signage...

  4. too many people were using the same "vestibules" (tunnels) for finding their seat--folks sitting close to the field, as well as folks sitting way up high in the nose bleed section (e.g., section EJ)

  5. seating spots (that are numbered on the bleachers) are WAY TOO CLOSE to each other--it is clear that PSU must have re-numbered them to fit more people in the stadium. we were smooshed into our seats, even though there was an EMPTY seat next to us that we were also using (so, 4 seats for 3 people)...whoever assigned these seat capacity plans should be reprimanded or fired. everybody was facetiously joking about this issue.

  6. each row of bleachers is WAY TOO CLOSE to bleacher in front of and behind them--people have to stand onto their own seat/bench just to give people enough room to walk past them to get to their seat. didn't even feel comfortable getting up during game for lavatory/food/drink, because was such a drawn out process to get to/from our seats. UNBELIEVABLE... people joked about it, too. just plain ridiculous. also, this HAS to be a fire code violation--how did a fire marshal ever approve this layout for $109K/110K people in such a tight environment?!

instead of trying to pack more and more people into already large stadium, how about focus on basic logistics that allow people to actually enjoy sitting while they watch game?!

this was w/o doubt the absolute worst experience I had ever had watching any sporting event... the game was just...

I've been to Beaver stadium many times as a Penn State family member and football follower for the past 35 years. I've been to many other college and professional football stadiums, but Penn State is really tops and Best in class. From crowd management to parking although somewhat pricey, to food venues including Best in class Penn State creamery, to widely available souvenir/gift/ clothing and Penn State memorabilia on college avenue. Penn State wrote the book on tailgating and they truly are best in class in the nation. I've taken a number of family members and friends there for the first time to see a Penn State football game and it is etched in their memory for a lifetime with a very positive, favorable and once-in-a-lifetime experience. Of course I miss the Joe Paterno days, but time waits for no one. Strange how years after the Joe Paterno legacy, nearly all his recommendations to improve the competitiveness and fairness of college football have come to pass and are now implemented by the NCAA. I just don't know why it took them so long. Just a shame how the Southeastern teams continue to cheat beyond measure. And it's really a complete disservice and abomination that Penn State University never formally apologized to the Paterno family for the deplorable treatment of Joe Paterno as he put Penn State University on the map and instituted a legacy of excellence and fundraising that is likely never to be met by any single individual from the University and its community ever again. Beaver stadium is first in class, no question about it. It's the model for all college football programs to follow and leaves a legacy for generations of football fans and players and coaches to follow....

Going to a Pennstate football game is an amazing experience. We had a great time and everyone was awesome. Like most college or NFL football games, you can expect high prices for food and drinks. You can also expect long lines at the food and drinks. I wish the bleachers were more like the Eagles stadium but it is what it is. In the 3rd quarter, we got a little lost coming down to the bottom of the stadium as our seats were high up. We didn't leave the stadium but we were close to the exits. However, we were stopped and excused of trying to re-enter after leaving. They said we were not allowed back in but we literally just walked off the stairs after coming down from our seats. The person was completely rude and refused to listen to what we were saying even though we just passed 2 security guards on the stairs. It has me second guessing whether I want to attend another game. We were there for my daughter who was being honored on the field. She attends an affiliate college. I grew up watching Pennstate, my entire family are fans, but I find it embarrassing to be treated that way and don't care to have that experience again. Especially with my autistic son attending who absolutely loves Pennstate.

I'm a Disabled veteran, and this was my first time here with my service animal, and it was the worst experience I've ever had. I was grabbed by a worthless state college police officer after I stopped a drunk guy from assaulting my service animal, and if it wasn't for the awesome guy in the red vest working there that seen everything this could have been worse. I will be filing a formal complaint about the police and the LACK OF SECURITY at this game. You need to teach these worthless officers what the ADA states. I will ALWAYS stop someone from assaulting my SA. They also need to make the ADA line easier ( make it a separate line, not one that smashes you into others) since myself and another veteran that had only one leg had to fight through the crowd to get in. I've been to major league baseball, football, soccer, and professional golf tournaments and NEVER had to deal with the disrespect I received at this game. I called the local number, but Cole, the representative, stopped typing after a few seconds. I will be getting an attorney and taking the next step to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. Penn state dropped the ball on Veterans Day.

Beaver Stadium was a bucket list item for me. I visited for my first time in September 2021 for the Penn State vs Villanova football game and overall I had a very good experience aside from parking. The stadium lines were short and the walk to my seat was quick once I pass though the initial gates. I arrived over an hour early to the game, however, I was still stuck in traffic for 45+ minutes. My advice is to get there as early as possible to take advantage of tailgating and pregame events. The stadium itself is very large but does not have the same polished feel that NFL stadiums have. There are a lot of bleacher seats and exposed steel structure. The views were fine from the visiting student section where I was seated. The viewing experience was solid with great views of the scoreboards that are located on either end of the stadium. The Penn State student section was loud but was not as crazy as I hoped, granted, they were not playing a very difficult team. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the stadium and going to a Penn State football game at least once.
