What a lovely area God made for us to enjoy. Thank goodness Charles Perkins family donated it to the people so that it wouldn't be destroyed by man's greed.
In the central garden you can visit nature, and history. Look up to see big horn sheep or rock climbers. Find fascinating shapes that nature made for us, like the sleeping indian, a monkey on an elephant's back, a gargoyle, a turtle, a polar bear face etched into the rocks by water, fossils, and much more. Let your imagination take you there. I have so, so, so many pictures from here, but have neglected to write a review until today. I will have to search my Facebook and add the pictures at another time.
Led a group on a full moon hike here on February 5, 2023. It was chilly, but the rock formations are gorgeous by moonlight.

Read moreI visited in winter, December 6th, 2017. There was no snow, but it was cold. It was late in the afternoon and the light was disappearing fast, so I would recommend going there in the morning to make the most of it.
I got some great photos and awesome memories. And, as others have mentioned, the visitor center is not mandatory. You can go explore and learn on your own if you wish. Pretend you are on the moon, except just stay on the trails.
Also make sure to bring some snacks and water. And always pack out what...
Read moreBe Aware of BREAK-INS! This is a beautiful park but please be aware of potential car break-ins! I was just at the park and returned to my car only to find someone had damaged my lock and opened the door (I know 100% it was definitely locked when I left and the lock is damaged beyond repair). I have no idea what they were after, but this is apparently a quick technique without having to smash a window! Please leave your valuables at home and lock your vehicles. Report any suspicious activity to the police...
