An easy access from I-25, this park offers a permanent stream emanating from what might well be one of the original springs of Colorado Springs. If you park at the Catamount Institute parking lot off Chestnut and West Caramillo, you can head over a quaint bridge up westward trails that wind the foothills of the Mesa, or north along the creek, on the wider and easy going Mesa Valley Trail. Take the single track eastside of the creek trail that meanders through meadow and scrub forest with more native species, including the wild carrot seen in photos. This has been a family favorite, with dams and bridges and makeshift forts and plenty more fallen wood to make your own! In the Fall, you can lay next to the stream and look up to the sky, let the abundant leaves fall all over you as you unwind to the voice of the calm and persistent waters. A major stopping off point for migrating birds, and a corridor for mammals moving between the mountains and the plains. During the summer we host Summer Camps in the Park. If you ever have questions or need a map of the trails pop in our offices to say hi! If you ever come to the park and the gate is closed that is OK just park in the cul-de-sac or on the street and walk by the gate. Some of our favorite trails are the Lilac and West fork trails. Be aware that when you go through the gate on the Northside of the park you are leaving park property and are on a greenway trail.
