We used to be exclusively Keystone and Epic Pass people, but, after this last ski season, we're 100% done with both. Keystone has become extremely crowded, with long lines for lifts and inflated prices for everything from food to ski school. (A guy told us he paid $900 for his two kids to do ski school, and then Keystone staff told him he had to also buy a lift ticket for both if he wanted to do a few runs with them after ski school. Just, wow.) But, the biggest issue we have is the absolutely awful customer service. We visited the resort for a ski day in late December that turned into an absolute nightmare. The power went out at the resort, and we were trapped on the Ruby lift for more than 30 minutes. Then, since we were on the wrong side of the mountain, we were stuck with hundreds of people, all packed into and waiting at the BBQ spot for more than three hours -- all the while the staff yelling at us to get out and refusing to sell anything because the "credit card machines didn't work" (even to families with small kids -- and this was during lunchtime). Finally, we went to wait in a 1-hour line to take us over to the small gondola and return to the front side of the mountain. Again, the lift died and we were stuck on it for 20+ minutes. Once we got there, we went into the overly-crowded lodge to wait for the line to get shorter. The tile floors were soaked, and I ended up slipping and falling, nearly fracturing my arm. When we finally did get in the gondola line, it was just a mass of people with no direction from the staff -- another hour wait until we finally got to the front side and were able to ski down. I understand they can't control the power outage, but the staff's unprofessionalism, the lack of direction, the poorly-kept lodges, and just the general awfulness of the day is inexcusable. We emailed the customer service department about all this, and all they did was reply with "Thank you! Your feedback has been noted." No apology. No offer to make it right. Just that lame response. Outside all of this, I-70 traffic has gotten to be unbearable. We left at 5:30 a.m. every time we went this past season, and still managed to hit a jam and add an hour to our trip. And the way back to Denver? No less than 4 hours every time -- the last time, we were one of the unlucky ones who got trapped between Silverthorne and the tunnel during a shutdown. It took us 7 hours to get home. Ultimately, the juice ain't worth the squeeze anymore. And between the inflated prices, traffic, and (above all), the awful customer service, we're switching...
Read moreI am disabled. And have stage 4 cancer. They allow handicap parking there in their parking lot but you have to walk or wheel yourself about a quarter mile or more through the village ,thru snow! In order to get to the ticket purchase area. There's a small sign at the right at the ticket purchase area for ADA people but they don't advertise it and they're selling tickets to other normal non-ADA people in that line as well. So good luck. So I'd have to tote all my s* that quarter mile plus back to the ticket booth. No thank you. I can't do that. Needs to be better access. I was going to have to pay somebody like 20 bucks to carry my s* for me. Couldn't afford that or find anyone. Not with the rates at the lift tickets. I told keystone that there needs to be a shuttle golf carts?. Some way to get the disabled people from the parking lot to the quarter mile plus to the ticket purchase area where the lift is I was very disappointed about the program and I actually think they could be fined $ by the ADA for their program not being adequate. I wasted about 2 hours there. The time it took me to get from the disabled parking lot to the ticket booth was about 45 minutes (without my gear)with three rests in between...NOT ADA compliant Keystone... How about some help for us please? And the girl behind that ADA line disabled ticket purchase wouldn't say a word about the issue. Shrugged her shoulders. Oh well great freaking service. By the way, even if I get the ticket there I still jave to walk over to the lift and that's really all I can do, Maybe 30 ft. That's that's my limit. I love to ski single ski sit down. It's a blast . But keystone really ruined my plans for the 4:00 to 7:00 night session so I just left and went back to my hotel and said f it... So keystone you absolutely owe me one free night session and an escort from the freaking parking lot handicap which you have way too few spots of btw. Oh yeah, and by the time I made it to the ticket counter, the ADA girl that I had to wait in a long time to see tells me that I can't buy the ticket until 4:00 and session ends at 7. :00. So if I get a 4:00 ticket once I get equipped and then ride the lift up to the top of the mountain it'll be five something need an adjustment there too keystone help us out.. . Just put a red bold stripe on our lift ticket and the lifters will know we are there from 4:00 to 7:00. No problem
Okay. ADA stands for the Americans with disabilities act, federal law. What do you think? Everybody even you able-bodied folks think they should give us...
Read moreI'm so aggravated that I bought a season pass here. What good is a pass if there is no place to park? Twice now this season this has happened. Today, after working a few hours in the morning, I arrived at the area around 11:00. The Mountain House lots, and the River Run Gondola lot were both full. I followed direction from the useless parking attendant and headed to the Powerline lot. Even though the signs said it was open, I was turned away by another useless attendant who claimed the lot was full. So now I backtrack to the North "Shuttle" lot (this is the lot that you see people walking from as they try to cross Route 6 while traffic is making its way through because the "shuttle", that has about 100 people waiting in line for, is so inefficient) and just as I arrive, the lot closed signs come out. What now? Give Vail Resorts more money for parking when they should have done a better job designing this place? Maybe instead of cramming more condos in, build a parking structure!!! Again, I'm so pissed I'm stuck with this season pass!!! Good job Vail resorts!!! You managed to get some money from me!!! Just another money hungry corporation who has no regard for the customer. In case you were concerned (LOL), my son and I left and went over to Loveland Ski Area for a half day. And guess what? There was parking for us!!! Thankfully, I also purchased a couple of 4-packs for there because of your blackout dates. I wish I had just stayed with Loveland season passes. Live and learn. Never again...
