Lake San Cristobal — Attraction in Colorado

We took a scenic route to get up high to be able to see the lake and it was incredible. There are some places to pull off to park and be able to take pictures or hike up a bit more. We were with small children and not wearing proper close toed shoes so we only went off the side of the road, but still a gorgeous view. There are some narrow roads driving up the mountain, so be prepared for that.

I've been going to this lake my whole life off and on. Absolutely beautiful every time i go. Yet remember it's a mountain lake, 2nd biggest natural lake in Colorado. And it's ALWAYS COLD!! And wind is always strong and cool coming off of it. it's hard to fish too.. Better readup before you go to fish. Still it dont have tons of beach/shore, but it's good for kayaks and such and moderate boats. You can drive all the way around it. Its lovely dark mountain...

Tent camping, rustic cooking and fire. LOVED IT! My husband and I tent camped, cooked over an open fire,m. Our site overlooked the lake , every morning at 06:00 the ducks flew over our site honking/quacking - what an alarm !! We didn’t mind at all. No better way to start the day. I can’t wait to return & tent camp with my grandchildren, since my husband has passed on. No better way to remember...
