⸻ We booked all three “suites” at Lake San Cristobal Lodge for three couples with trucks, trailers, and side-by-sides. Parking was extremely cramped despite being told there was “plenty,” and we had to leave trailers along the road. The property is very dated and poorly maintained — rusty pipes and boards with nails, tall weeds, and a “dock” that’s really just a small, sideways walkway. Inside wasn’t very clean, with cobwebs in multiple places. Amenities were inconsistent: some units had a coffee pot, some had a toaster, few had both. Towels were old and worn. Hot water seemed to be shared across all units, so only two people could shower before it ran cold. No air conditioning, and the Wi-Fi never worked. The owner’s personal camper and non-working houseboat are parked close to the rentals, adding to the cramped feel. Overall, this stay didn’t match what was advertised, and I wish more accurate details had been provided before booking.

Lake City is our favorite mountain town in Colorado and this lodge is the perfect location to get to experience why. You are right on lake San Cristobal and so close to so many amazing hikes and 14er trailheads. Such an amazing view to wake up to. We enjoyed having coffee on the deck and then stand up paddleboarding on the water. We really appreciated that it was dog friendly too! Just let them know in advance you will want a dog friendly room. Doug the owner is the nicest and most helpful guy too! Can’t wait to stay here again! Highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in an affordable yet comfortable waterfront lodge

Disappointing and Misleading The property is dated and not at all as portrayed on the website. It was dirty upon arrival, and there were multiple safety hazards, including old boards with exposed nails and rusty pipes left around from what looked like a dismantled dock. The so-called “lodge” is actually a small building split into three rooms, with connecting doorways between units—so you’re essentially renting a single room, not a private cabin or suite. Parking was also very cramped and inconvenient. Overall, the experience fell far short of expectations.

First off, the owner was out of town and left our room for us. We should have realized that he was not there for a reason. Second, it was dirty and it was a death trap. If you had a fire on the first floor there was no way of escape for the second floor. It was dirty....I mean dirty. Opened kitchen cupboard and had to feel my way through the cobwebs and where the "tiny little" monitor for the TV sat, it was so dirty that we were sure it had not been dusted in months. All of that for the great price of $150. Unbelievable. You could not pay by credit card but had to send a check for the total amount ahead of time. Hmmm! Wonder why! Just want others to know before they get taken like we did. BTW, he never spoke to us and asked us how we liked our room, Can only guess why. Be aware before you sign up for something like this. Tough...
