Great pace for an easy walk/hike. I suggest getting there early because parking is limited. When we were leaving people were waiting for our spots. I like this area in large part because of the herons nesting. They are just starting their nests this time of year. We saw one big heron standing in a nest on the south end of the trail. Afterwards you can opt to drive to see more nesting. As you exit turn left (south), then turn right onto St. Vrain Road and follow it . About half a mile in you'll see the rookeries and depending on the time of year you'll see herons nesting. It's an amazing sight! When I drove by on Saturday there were two in one nest standing up. Can't wait to go back in a few weeks. There should be lots in the spring. Back to the walk....we walked the dirt paths and I clocked a little over 3 miles. One of my favorite walks...
Read moreI really enjoy this spot. I come here when I get the time after work. Dusk fishing is great. The views and sights are really nice. If you can get out on the water with a float or kayak, the fishing is so much better 😀 The restrooms are always clean and stocked. Nice long walks around the ponds too. There's a few more ponds across the street from parking lot. They are a much longer walk but it's worth every step, whether you're fishing or just walking. The hours on here are wrong. Sun up to dark seems more correct. I've never seen the gates closed before. I've always left about an hour after sunset and there's usually someone else still...
Read moreGreat relaxing park with over a couple of miles of trails. Also includes a covered picnic table and public rest rooms. Established trees line the lake and ponds in various areas. Light gravel covers the paths to keep them from getting too muddy. Would recommend to anyone wanting an easy walk with enough length to let kids run around a bit. You could easily bring a stroller here, but those with tall wheels will have an easier time. You could probably bring a wheelchair here if you are adventurous. You can fish here, but heed the signs. The pond on the south side (Webster pond) was closed to fishing when I went. Fishing can be done from...
