Vallecito Reservoir — Attraction in Colorado

This place is beautiful. The camp sites are nice and lake access is easy. There is so much you can do here from fishing to paddle boarding, boating, hiking, biking, running, bird watching, it's a majestic place. This is a wake lake but it was not busy at all. The western shore is mostly sandy public beach and can be accessed for a small fee paid to BLM at the envelope stations. The eastern shore is mostly private including some rentals and campgrounds. Beautiful lake surrounded by mountains, about 30 mins from Durango. In summer can rent boats (paddle boats, kayaks, pontoons, other motorized boats, etc) from the marina and cruise around. On the east side of Vallecito is a gravel road and various campgrounds. Lots of swimming areas around. I came here late Fall and enjoyed biking around and explore...
