The stay at this place was terrible. Lack ventilation in the bathrooms (cabins 4 and 6) caused what appeared to be black mold. The managers said it was "black water spots" from a construction crew that stayed there the week prior. If that's the case it was left filthy and not cleaned. They also said in email correspondence that they were going to get it tested to be sure of what is was and then sent me an email saying I am blocked and banned from contacting them. The health department will be contacted to get an answer. The LP heater didn't work in cabin 4 for most of the stay. The maintenance man (manager) brought an electric heater which continually would blow the breaker if you had anything more than that plugged in. In his words, "I could mess around trying to get this to work all day but I am not going to waste my time. These heaters are old and need to be upgraded." Many mornings it was 40 degrees in that cabin. We had an 8 day trip planned and were supplied with 2 rolls of toilet paper and no extra garbage bags. I like many others do not want to constantly have to ask for consumables like this. When I go on vacation I don't want to be bothered or have to ask for something so simple as these items. The gas grill top just fell off when picked up after trying to light. The LP tank for the grill was empty as well. The new managers need to get it together. Oh yeah, that gaudy bus parked in the front row doesn't do any favors for the place.
I hope this all gets fixed up as the views were great but the stay was not.
Response to owner: I never expected a full refund. Nowhere in our correspondence in email did it say that. I never stated the furnace was too large for the cabin. I am not paying for wood in a place that is supposed to have LP heat. I want a warm cabin when I get home. Was that too much to ask? I was banned and blocked when I asked multiple times where the "black spots" would be tested at and a time frame for doing so. Apparently that was too much to ask. If these "Threats and demanding language" are too much to give an open and honest answer to then maybe there's more to the story. The "threatening and demanding" language is also probably as you put it in your response on another issue, "was a disconnect or misunderstanding." I could care less about the measly 15% you were going to reimburse me. What matters is that a safe AND clean environment is being provided by you as the host. "years worth of water stains" pretty much makes the cleanliness point. The only complaint you did not know about was the "black water stains." As I stated in email, where were we going to go over halfway through our stay? In another cabin that had the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI made a reservation on April 24, 2017. We then had been asked to attend a girls camp with our church on May 10, 2017. I called and cancelled our reservation on the 11th. On the 16th I had not received a refund of our payment. I called and was informed we were not privy to a refund because I hadn't cancelled 60 days before our arrival. We'll I couldn't have because I had only made my reservation on April 24th. I was told that unless the cabin got rerented I would not receive a refund. I was told not to worry she was sure it would get rented out. After speaking with my husband he said no well just keep our reservation and rearrange our other plans. So not 10 to 20 minutes later I called back and told her we would keep our room. And Lark was very rude said "WHAT"? She told me she "thinks she has it rented". We'll lady why couldn't you have just refunded my money when you knew it would get rerented. I let me husband know the situation and he called and Lark we very rude to him and hung up on him. We are a 1 income family and we do the right thing. No matter if it's $5 or $5000 money is hard to come by. If I had made my reservation 60 prior I would have understood, but that was not the case. Lark you are in customer service if that is how you treat your guests them maybe you should consider a career change! I will never stay her or recommend this property to anyone! Hard working Americans who are honest and doing the right thing don't deserve this kind...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe location of Elk Point Lodge is fabulous. We stayed in the Hummingbird cabin which has an awesome view of the lake from the deck and the cabin has a big picture window in case you can't sit on the deck. There are plenty of places to go walking and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The cabin has a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot that all worked well and a newer grill on the deck which was great for cooking steaks. The cabin is in need of some repairs, though. We paid extra for the cabin with the hot tub but were very disappointed that only 3 of the jets were working (not 3 sections - 3 jets), the cover is so waterlogged that you can't remove it by yourself so between the minimal jets and the cover it wasn't worth the effort to use it. The tiles in the bathroom are broken and come up when you step on them so we had to put a towel over them to make sure we didn't hurt ourselves and the section of hardwood between the kitchen and the dining is also broken and we had to put a towel over it so we didn't trip on it. The furnace only works if you turn on the breaker. Thankfully it works and they also provide space heaters but you shouldn't have to keep turning the heat on and off. This is our 2nd time to stay at Elk Point Lodge and we will probably come back. Hopefully, these items will be addressed because this would be our...
