Great place to see how people lived before electricity, there is an exhibit of clothing so you can see how they dressed, and tools for everyday living. There are books for sale that tell the history of Boone County. I have found a lot of people in my mother's side of the family in these books. Pioneers of Boone County for the most part. If your family was from Boone County, it's a pretty safe bet that they will be mentioned. Everyone knew everyone else so. Hopefully, you will find your...

Cool little heritage museum to explore. Neat old buildings to walk around and on certain days they open up so you can explore. Recently had a celebration back in the museum that we rented out. Nice little space indoor and would have loved for the weather to be warm so we could have used the large patio. Staff is super nice and helpful. Have a decent historical library that you might find some information about your past relatives in if they have lived...

A nice facility, but a lot more emphasis on art/local artists than history during my visit. The exhibit I specifically was attracted to because of their web site was replaced just before I got there. I don't think I read their schedule wrong, but it's too late now. Though the site is next to U.S. 63 it takes more maneuvering than you might expect to actually reach. Check a map first. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, adjoining park,...

This is a great place to visit with family in Columbia. The exhibits in the museum and art gallery are well-curated and displayed. The 18th- and 19th century model houses nicely portray Columbia's past. The center also hosts family events with food, music and children's activity once in a while, which can be great experience for all adults and children alike.

Very cool place, there's a museum, an art gallery, and also some historic buildings on the grounds. You can tour the insides of these buildings for free - you just have to ask at the front desk. If you're thinking about taking the kids to the park, just go here instead because it's located on a park that has a playground, too.

A superior place to discover and uncover the history and culture of Boone County, Missouri. The Montminny Gallery is a wonderful feature of this historical society headquarters. The home of the famous “Blind Boone” piano, the collections are vast and unparalleled.
