Before I went on holiday break from work. Which is a week for the 4th of July. I work inside KIA doing logistics. I was thinking of a nice park to walk for 30 minutes a day while I'm on my holiday break. I first thought of Lake Bottom. Then I decided not cause it's so popular with everybody in the Columbus and surrounding area. Too much foot track for my taste. I don't care for crowds. I thought about Edgewood Park. My neighborhood park. I didn't go with that either cause part of it walking trail goes off into a wooded area that looks sketchy. Unseeable If that's a word from the main road which is Morris Rd. Then, a childhood friend of mine suggested Fort Middle School track around its football field. I was going to walk there but thought about there's no trees there to provide shade as you walk. That's when Cooper Creek came to mind. I used to frequent there as a kid attending the Family Day in the Park years ago. I knew Cooper Creek had a lake and good acres of trees and greenery. So I began walking there in the morning. I love it. The trail goes past the lake. Under canopy of trees and over small creeks through the woods. Trees provide shade where you don't sweat as bad as under the open Sun. It's peaceful with just the company of a handful of other walkers. Also, there is wildlife to see. Which make for good company as well. The Canadian geese that are there are used to people. You walk past them, and they clear a path for you as you walk by. They look at you, and you look at them in friendly greeting. Walking among Nature, what a nice space to be in as you get your walk on. So, I highly recommend Cooper Creek Park for beginner walkers like myself and veteran walkers. Runners and park lovers will find themselves at home at Cooper...
Read moreI always enjoy Cooper Creek Park, although it seems with every place that is open to the public, you can find trash thrown on the ground pretty much everywhere you go. The men's bathroom is unpleasant at the very least and unless there was some sort of serious emergency, there is no way on earth I would use that restroom for anything greater than taking a leak. I would carry my son through the urine covering the floor to ensure he didn't try to put his shoes on anything in the car, or even the car itself, for that matter. I have no idea what the ladies restroom looks like up there, but if it was a third as bad as the men's room, I can't imagine any woman who would be willing to even risk anything by going in there at all. I'm sure we'll go back, but I'm not going there after eating anything. That restroom doesn't need to be renovated. It needs to be burned by a great and mighty fire in the hopes of incinerating anything that could be, and likely is, growing there. Then it needs to be replaced by something that can actually be used if necessary. By something that can be sanitized relatively easy as well. It's hard to believe that anyone sits in that restroom, but I saw toilet paper and they weren't unused rolls, so someone has more confidence in the toilets...
Read moreCooper Creek Park is definitely a big part of Columbus, I've lived here for 29 years and it's always been a part of my life. I have a lot of good memories at this park. Over the years it's changed drastically. Depending on what you're looking for it's either better or worse. If you're looking for a private park, somewhere to be alone and relax I would say go to Flat Rock. This park has a massive Tennis complex that takes up quite a few Acres and also has a CSU section of tennis courts and complex. As a matter of fact there are two tennis complexes. It also has a very active walking trail. Granted everything seems to stay clean and all the walkers, joggers, and Runners seem to share the trails well. For me the park is way too crowded. But that is just one opinion. It's definitely worth checking out to see if it's a...
