I’ve experienced some amazing things in life, but I can’t recall anything that holds a candle to my experience touring the Miller House. From the moment we entered the visitors center, I felt genuinely welcomed and every staff member we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and engaging. They all clearly love what they do and it shines through in every interaction.
We checked in, then watched an informative video on the history of the Miller house and the Miller family. I enjoyed the video and learned a lot; It was a great way to begin the tour.
From there, we went outside where we were greeted by our lovely driver and boarded the shuttle bus which took us to the Miller House.
The shuttle bus ride wasn’t long, but our AMAZING tour guide Marsha K. shared great pieces of information with us along the way and before I knew it, we were at the Miller house. The tour was packed with information, anecdotal tidbits, fun facts, and just about everything my nosey, architecture and interior design-appreciating little heart could desire. Of course the Miller house is beautiful and has a fascinating legacy, but it’s how the tour staff handle the house that’s the real magic. Everyone we met was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing and protecting the Miller house, it was just lovely.
The experience was so great, and the house and grounds so beautiful, I’m sure I will return again. We saw the house in late November and I would love to see it again for Christmas, spring, etc! I think you could really see and appreciate something new each time. And if you haven’t gone with Marsha K.,...
Read moreThe guided tour of the Miller house is well organized, informative. The overall impression of the grounds, the house and the decor felt surprisingly modern while still being a time warp at the same time.
The home and setting are stunning. Mid century modern, with high attention paid to materials and surfaces; travertine and marble offset clean lines and white steel beams.
The interior decor is also charming, personalized and well balanced. A similar amount of attention is paid to interiors as you'd see in a Frank Lloyd Wright home, but with much more of the owners character visible.
The visitors center was a hidden gem. Clean and well organized, it's also in the center of several other great architectural points, First Christian Church, a fantastic Henry Moore, and the library just to name a few.
There are several rules, when you can and can't take photos, what places you can and can't stand in the house. It's well organized and didn't feel restrictive,...
