Bunch of his girlfriends went for their 4th of July celebration. This was the first time most of us had been there, and we did enjoy their property. It is lovely and relaxing. We were out in the lawn in our lawn chairs for about 4 hours, and it was so hot and humid even though we had a little bit of shade from a tree. We met two of the owners and they were both fantastic! I'm not a big wine drinker, so I explained my what I disliked about wine to the gentleman, and he suggested the plum wine. I am glad he did, because it was very good and did not have that typical aftertaste that wine has. I also tried a wine slushie, just because it was so hot outside to cool us down. It did help with that some, but there were only two options to choose from and I didn't care for either (too tart). So I only drank about half of it, which is even more disappointing because it's $14 a glass! We also tried a couple of their pizzas, and they were good. The also had a school bus food truck that was delicious.
The downside is definitely the music. There were three musical acts, and two of them were pretty unbearable to listen to. They were like the kind of music that comes in and plays at the memory care centers and the nursing homes I work at. Even when they tried to play a more current song, it sounded like a lullaby. There was one lady that's sang an octave too high, and it was quite difficult to listen to, and she was in the first band and the third band! After about 10 minutes of listening to the third band, we had to pick up and go. The gentleman that played in the middle was good though and he played the blues and he was significantly better than the other two acts. I would think if they would get some better music in their, they would have more customers. This music catered to an extremely elderly crowd, most of the people there were not. We will definitely go back, but pick a day when there's better music. I recommend anybody that would like to try their wines, comes into do a tasting, a flight, or purchase a glass, and...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Wyandotte yesterday for the first time as a part of their Unwind and Rewind with Thrive. After a fantastic experience at Thrive, we were really let down by Wyandotte. After telling the man working that we were there for the promotion, he set us up with our wine and hummus plate, and then never came back to check on us, which was disappointing because we wanted to hang out for a few hours, and order lunch and a bottle or two of wine.
I am not entirely sure how they split up sections, but there were two other employees who checked on the 3-4 surrounding tables while we had empty wine glasses 4 different times. I had to flag down our original server to ask for a tasting of two other wines, but he never came back to ask if we needed anything else. My wife was upset and felt like we were being ignored because we were there as a part of a promotion, so she asked to go somewhere else for lunch. It definitely was not how I wanted my wife to feel on our date, and made me feel cheap. There was a man in a black shirt that noticed our empty plate and 4 empty wine glasses (two from the promo and two from the tasting) after a few rounds of checking on other tables, but at that point, we were just ready to go.
Compared to other reviews, it seems like this experience is the exception, but we probably won’t be back to find out, which is disappointing because the wine was fantastic. Our time here left my wife feeling insecure about herself since we didn’t receive much service compared to the other tables, which is the opposite of how I would ever want her to feel on a...
Read moreI can't say enough about this place! Firstly, the wine is amazing. I'm THRILLED to have such a wonderful winery right here in Columbus! The place itself has a "cozy little cottage" feel with amazing ambiance! My fiancé and I have taken their tour TWICE, the first time with Robin, the second time with Valerie (both the owners). What a different tour each one was from the other, but equally fantastic! Robin and Valerie are so passionate about their winery! And if the wine and company don't do you in, try their WINE CAKES! All three are so delicious, I can't even pick a favorite. Then there's their custom label bottles. Every time I go to a wedding, I have a custom label bottle made at Wyandotte for the couple! You can't go wrong with the wine to begin with, and the labels are only an additional $5 to the bottle! Custom label bottle + a gift card of choice = Boom. Perfect wedding gift. I've gotten so many custom bottles made here, Sarah instantly recognizes me as soon as I walk in the door. She is INCREIDBLY sweet, and is always patient and communicative every time I reach out to her for a new bottle! A couple year ago, my boyfriend at the time took me here for a tour and tasting, thinking it would be a good date idea. (Spoiler alert: it was a GREAT date idea!) Today, almost three years later, we came back to pick up FOUR custom made bottles that I will use to ask my sisters and friends to be my bridesmaids for our wedding! Seriously, I can't recommend this place enough, and can't...
