I've been around the world and this is my favorite park that I have ever had the pleasure of camping at. 1st and foremost and they are open 365 days a year and if you are camping there you are able to hike the trails or boat and fish the waters all day and all night long so it offers everything from a huge hunting area to and even larger area that has no hunting and is spectacular for every water sport from jet skis to kayaks and canoes which you can rent either app a campsite or roughly one mile down you can set up a pick up and drop off everything about this park is what you look for in a good park even at capacity this park has many places that you truly feel alone and able to commune with nature. I have seen and I'll bundance of wildlife their everything from common ground animals all the way up to a pack of coyotes or coil Wolf I did not take the liberty of getting close enough as there were probably at least 10 In the pack. Snakes toads and multiple squirrels will company you on your hikes and above head there's always beautiful hawks eagles and other Falcon varieties as well as singing birds of every kind this really is a park that they have put to the time and the money into engineering its trails so that there are times when you are any bridge surrounded by marshland and it is gorgeous weather the water level is high or low whether there is a foot of snow on the ground or it is a 100゚ in the summer there's plenty of water and plenty of room to walk again although this park is small compared to parks lake Yosemite and the grand tetons however this is a beautiful piece of real state if you want to know what Michigan is all about proud lake is where you need to go. 6...
Read moreProud lake has always been a place that I loved to go too. As a child I went with my parents, siblings, cousins, and friends. Even had a few parties there. Then as a preteen to a teenager I'd go there with my friends, cousin and my sisters. We'd rent a canoe and pack a bunch of food!! As well as our ((Picnic basket that our mom had made us the best food that she'd put inside it.)) We'd save that for whenever we got to the beach area to eat! We would laugh, joke around, play card games, Also some (drinking games) We'd play our guitar, sing and we'd swim, we'd Dance a whole lot lol!! We'd sunbathe, then move onto the other side and we'd fish and get out and walk around. We even camped there once or twice.
However it is a beautiful, fun, safe and all around a very nice place to go. Very family friendly one size really great for fishing and camping if you like that kind of thing.
However whenever you go there please remember one of my dear friends had passed away there many years ago it's a sad story so I won't tell it just remember she's there tell her hi and say what's up and let her know if she's being thought of. That she's not been forgotten and never will be. Xoxo...
Read moreProud Lake Recreation is such a beautiful place. This was the first time I've been there. The paths are magical. The deeper you go into the woods, the more you feel like you've been transported into a different time. Surprisingly, there weren't that many people walking the trails that day. A group of us went on a Sunday early in the afternoon. I had my 2 y.o. grandson with me. I did have his heavy-duty stroller, which I'm glad my son dropped it off before we left. The deeper you go into the woods, the more rough the terrain becomes. So you may want to wear hiking boots. My Sketchers were definitely not the footwear of choice and weren't cutting it. However, my tree hugging daughter loves to do earthing and walked the whole trail barefoot! We did see a few joggers, though. The mosquitoes weren't too bad as long as you were moving. There are benches to rest ever so often that are dedicated to a loved one, which I thought was nice. But I can tell you it was a beautiful 4-mile walk, and I will definitely be walking those trails again. Just remember to take a big jug of water and have fun! p.s. there are also outhouse type restrooms at...
