This is a great family park and we will be coming back each summer. The splash pad is very fun for kids with water guns, buckets which drop a lot of water and sprinklers for the kids to run through. Also, there is a play area for young and older kids alike including a swing set, gazebos for family get togethers and a grassy field to kick a ball around or throw a frisbee. I saw someone utilizing a wheelchair and the splash pad was very accessible for them to participate with the family in the water areas. Our daughter loved her time in the park and was kicking and screaming when we tried to leave because she was having so much fun at this park and we will definitely be coming back soon. You can buy a yearly pass and bypass the $5 cover charge which also gets you access to other parks in the Kalamazoo area. You would have to research these, I am not sure which parks these are exactly. It costs $5 per car just forewarning to those of you looking for a cost - free activity for you and the family. The cost for the yearly pass is $20 - $25. No, a recreation passport does not get you in to the park without paying, we have a passport and were still charged...
Read moreWe love the playground and splash pad. Paying for your Kalamazoo County Parks sticker is more than worth it with the various beaches and excellent Parks like this one to attend. Numerous activities, something for all ages, and plenty of cloudy days in Michigan to take your kids to this very sunny beautiful park. However with so many thousand year old Oaks I don't know how people can't find the shade. I'm afraid most of them are from places where trees are directly over the play areas as opposed to this rather new development but that is what makes this place so nice, everything is very updated. Also logistically mornings are shadier slightly. Lots of covered picnic tables spread throughout. Such a nice afternoon everytime. This park is different from less attractive ones as the rules are more stringent but the offset is higher echelon of behavior from the guests. I feel my kids are safe and protected playing in their playground and splash area. R.C. planes fly nearby within the park and are awesome to stop and watch...
Read moreSplash pad is always a hit with the kids. There is a blue circle on the ground that says "step here" to start the water on the toddler side. And the tall blue cylinder to start the water on the other.
It's a part of the 5 kalamzoo parks and a yearly pass to all of them is $25 per car, which we gladly pay. Or $5, per car, for a day pass I believe. Close enough to Kzoo for our means to go regularly. I called Kzoo Parks and Rec and paid over the phone. They're open till 3pm weekdays.
Also the playground is near the splash pad, so if one of my kids is through with the water, they happily okay there. Both are within close distance to watch my kids on either spot - there are a few picnic tables in between. Also a covered picnic area with tables you can sit at if it's...
