As a photographer, I just HAD to get this iconic photo of the Milky Way rising over Hot Creek. Worth the trip during the day = amazing lookout. At night it is pitch back and could be a little dicy because one needs to drive about 2 miles over a gravel dirt road through some gates that say the park closes at sunset. Also there is a major drop off which can be hard to see at night. Luckily they now have Barbed wire fence to stop dunder heads like me from killing ourself In the middle of the night.

Hands down the best viewpoint of Hot Creek Geological Site.

You get a straight on shot of the entire area with a breathtaking backdrop of Mt. Laurel, Mammoth Crest and the Eastern Sierra Nevada range in this region.

Breathtaking at all hours of the day, though sunsets are especially breathtaking.

The view changes with the season from snow capped peaks in the winter and spring to lush greens and a sea of yellows, blues, oranges and reds in between during...

This is the perfect spot to view Hot Creek Geological Site! We visited around 8am in June and the whole creek and mountains were illuminated. Sunrise or sunset would probably be incredible!

We spent a couple of hours at this spot enjoying the sights and my husband plein air painted.

There are vault toilets and picnic tables walking distance from here (at the parking...
