Carmel Highlands General Store — Attraction in Monterey

Charming little store - very rude clerk. We just stopped in (11/01/24) because every time we stay in Carmel we drive by and finally decided to check it out. We were the only people in the store at the moment and were taking out time looking around. They have a large wine selection, chocolates, post cards, pre-made salads & sandwiches. They may have more things of interest but I wouldn’t know because - although there were 2 other aisles to get where she was going - the clerk (seemingly in a big hurry) pushed past me with a brusque “‘s’cuse me” that was very clearly a “get out of my way because I’m coming through whether you move or not” rather than a sincere request. What seemed like the perfect stop after driving around Bixby for gas, a snack, and a souvenir for my son. Had some trouble with the pump. Walked in and waited for the brunette chick to finish her conversation with her other colleague in which she was making fun of another customer. I explained I had some trouble with the pump and the girl said “there’s nothing wrong with our pumps, the problem is you.” I literally laughed in disbelief.
