Coosawattee River Resort — Attraction in Talking Rock

I was traveling in North Ga with my family today on 9/5/19. When we remembered a cabin we had stayed in several years back, we couldn't find any information on the internet so we decided to stop by for some information. We got turned around and wound up at the gate at Legion rd and Newport dr around 2pm where we asked the woman at the gate if she had any information on the cabins. She ABRUPTLY said NO, you have to look it up on the internet. I told here we couldn't find anything on the specific one we were looking for and she said she couldn't help us, you gotta back up and leave. By that time a few cars were behind me so I said I can't, she said yeah now I gotta go get them to back up too. I said, just let me through the gate and I will turn around, she walked away from me at that point. After she make a huge ordeal out of this and got the cars to back up and during the sudden high level stress environment she created I bumped into a rock wall scratching and denting my bumper. If I would have let her, she would have ruined my entire day, but I didn't. What she did do however, was keep me, my family and friends from ever staying at the Coosawattee River Resort ever again. We come up here at least 2 times a year, and everyone in my family frequent here as well. It probably doesn't matter, but I figured some may appreciate this information, at the very least, something should be done about this woman. I am afraid I didn't...

We had a vacation home there for years and if we just had the cabin and land by itself, it would be awesome. HOWEVER, the HOA is an absolute nightmare. It seems like a bunch of older folks who have nothing better to do and really have a strong dislike of people like us who didn't live there year round. Their fees and assessments are not set in line with any other I've ever come across and again seem slanted against out-of-town owners. When we had a dispute they sent it straight to a lawyer who with one letter suddenly racked up more than $5000 in fees. My dad was battling terminal cancer and they begged for a payment plan but the HOA sent it to court. They then got a quick judgement and took this from my mom's bank account who is a widow living off of social security. She doesn't want to pursue anything against them even though I am fuming and from my research seems like they can't touch social security earnings. In short, Blue Ridge is just up the road and a much nicer vacation spot. Coosawattee management is a black eye for Ellijay and sad because our "tourist" dollars will definitely be taken elsewhere henceforth and forevermore. Was that really worth the small amount in back dues? Taken from a woman who lost her husband to cancer? Who tried to work with you and you refused and just send it to court? So much for Southern hospitality or even just simple...

DO NOT GO TO THE COOSAWATTEE RIVER RESORT We spent a week here and will not be returning. The cabin was advertised to sleep 12, but did not comfortably sleep 8. There were not even cookie sheets in the kitchen, let alone standard cooking utensils. Many of the nearby activities were closed, including the apple and peach farms and the petting zoo. All this was bearable because we were enjoying time with our family and choosing to overlook it. The true reason we will never return to the Coosawattee River Resort is the staff. Everyone who buzzed us through the gate acted like we were a huge nuisance. The pool attendants were indignant and insistent that no one have any fun whatsoever. They seemed to go out of their way to be annoying, first letting us bring floats into the pool and then telling us we were no longer allowed to have them, as if they had just come up with a new rule. One day we could eat lunch on the lounge chairs, but the next day food was forbidden. These pool attendants were mostly annoying and tolerable, but Christy in particular at the Fish Trap pool was overly haughty about her position as a pool attendant. She abused her so-called authority by chastising my three year-old nephew and defended her ridiculous behavior when confronted by his mother. I have never met a more miserable group of people.
