Our camping experiences at Davidson River date back for over thirty years and have all been remarkable......except for our most recent overnight stay on October 20th, 2019. We were harassed about vacating our camp site 20 minutes PRIOR to the actual check-out time, although we had been approved for a 1 to 2 hour late check-out on that very morning. ||||We had reserved two nights for Saturday and Sunday (October 19th and 20th) but wound up only staying on the 20th because of rain on the 19th. Due to the fact we missed out on one night's stay and we wanted a little longer to enjoy our time there, I made a phone call to the front gate around 10 o'clock in the morning on the 21st - our check-out day - inquiring about check-out time and asking if there was anyway to have a late check-out. The lady that answered the phone told me that 12 noon was the actual check-out time but that she would ask the manager, who was there with her, about a late check-out. She returned to the phone and asked me how much longer I wanted to stay. I replied that an extra hour or hour and a half would be nice. I was told that would be fine but that if we stayed past 2 pm we would be charged for an extra day. ||||Then, at 11:40 am, a lady and gentleman arrived to our camping site on a golf cart saying that check out time was in 20 minutes. (One of the hosts at the campground later told me that this lady's name was Rebecca and she was an assistant manager, but I cannot confirm this.) I replied to the lady on the golf cart that I had just talked to someone at the front gate earlier that morning and had been told we could have a late check out. The lady stated that she was the one I had spoken with earlier but that she thought I had "extenuating circumstances" - which I had NEVER stated and she never asked! The lady went on to say that we had 20 minutes to clear the camp site, while gesturing multiple times with her hands waving about toward our tent, which was still set up. I told her that as soon as my husband returned from the restroom we would begin to vacate our site.||||We checked out at 1:10 pm, within the time frame that was initially approved that morning. We did not see anyone waiting at the gate for check-in at that time. This was on a Monday and the campground was overflowing with vacant campsites.||||If we had been told that a late check-out was not possible, we would never have had this issue and we would have checked out promptly by 12 noon. However, to have been approved for a late check-out, then to be approached 20 minutes PRIOR to the normal check-out time, and in the manner the lady talked to me (rude), is disappointing and unacceptable in my opinion.
