(Edited to remove my statement that streaming was forbidden on the campground WiFi; I was mistaken)
Approach the campground via Myers Avenue; do not use Boy Scout Road like our Garmin wanted us to (we got driving directions from the campground when we made our reservation). The campground is on the outer edge of the tiny town of Myers Flat, next to the Eel River. It’s far enough from Highway 101 that you don’t hear any road noise.
The campground is bisected by the road into the campground. We stayed on the right side, which has two rows of pull-through sites (one with full hookups, the other with just water and electric) and one row of back-in sites overlooking the river. Our side had a bathhouse with laundry room and outdoor sink, a self-serve woodshed where you could drop cash in a drop box and carry off a bundle, and the office, which contains a small store with small souvenirs and locally-produced food items.
The left side of the campground also has a combination of pull-through and back-in sites with just water and electric, as well as several cabins. Amenities on that side of the park include a dog park, a small playground, an outdoor movie theatre with concession stand (which were in operation the Saturday night we were there), one bathhouse with laundry machines similar to the one in the right section, plus a building with individual bathroom and shower rooms, a dumper, and the dump station.
But the main amenity of the campground is the river. There is a short 50-ft access road off of the main campground road situated between a beach-style rinsing shower and a grass volleyball court that you can use to drive or walk to the shoreline. Even though the river level was likely pretty low during our stay, there is a section deep enough for swimming/bathing, and we saw a number of families headed down there with swim gear and floatation devices.
We had site 18, located in the middle row of pull-throughs in the right section, which generally had more space between them than the full hookup sites (though the site spacing in general wasn’t all that consistent). All the sites have gravel pads and grass yards, along with a picnic table and fire ring. Most of the sites throughout the campground get some shade from a tree or two, except for the back-in sites overlooking the river. The only negative about our site was the pair of trees bracketing the front end of our site: we pulled out through the vacant site in front of ours rather than try and the turn make needed to exit our site with our 37-foot fifth wheel (had the site been occupied, we probably could have backed out). The water pressure was on the low side, but that was probably true for everybody.
We had plenty of places to walk our dogs other than the dog park. While there is a market in town that sells some grocery items, you’ll want to stock up on supplies before you arrive if you’re staying for a week or more, as it’s quite a drive to any serious grocery store.
In terms of cell service, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna the Sunday we arrived was about 5Mbps down and 2Mbps up. But the bandwidth varied: most days I had enough bandwidth to work, and some (but not all evenings) we could stream video with some buffering and pixelation. The bandwidth on my AT&T phone was usually better: my one speed test showed 60Mbps down and 4 up. The WiFi offered by the campground was actually great for web surfing, with 8Mbps down and 6Mbps up, and it worked perfectly the few times I used it.
We would definitely stay here again if we were...

Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Michael and Kim (managers) are wonderful at their jobs! They keep the place running smooth and are strict about their rules to ensure everyone has a great stay. They also provide solutions for ways to allow campers to enjoy their stay. One rule was no attaching to trees so we had to take down our hammock. But they supplied a free standing hammock to us at no charge!!! Most places would upcharge for this which gives the optics of this rule only existing to increase revenue. They also care about the community of Meyers Flat and know that this business is vital to support this community!
Sites are beautiful. They offer river front (gorgeous view of river and forest), pull through, and under the trees (our favorite). Pull through sites are a bit cramped.
Eel river access was a major draw for us. Short walk to the beach from the camp and they don't allow general public access to this site. Felt very private and not crowded. If you float down for about 30 min you'll encounter a perfect tree to jump from into the water. Very fun and deep water when we were there in July.
They offer live music which some in our group were not fans of, but it did offer a nice vibe through the park (folk style music). I enjoyed it.
5, Great snack bar on site too! Small store that offers ice and wood. (they are a bit pricy in my opinion, but hey it's Meyers flat, not a lot of options around.)
Clean bathrooms and showers! (Your fees cover the shower which is great!) It's a clear money grab when sites charge you your fees then nickel and dime for showers.
Laundry on site, for coin op. Nice touch.
They offer volleyball site which we played at every night! Horseshoe pit too! They will check out the equipment needed too, all included.
All staff encountered were very professional and friendly. This is a gem of a campground and we'd definitely return to this site!
Hanna was so helpful in helping us find two spots that were adjacent to our friends. Very nice touch!
This is a great spot! Please consider booking your stay from these experienced camping families! Have a great grip and don't let the last half mile to the site detour you. It's a depressed economy and that shows, but this island of paradise is well worth it! Take a look at the photos we added!
Thanks again Kim and Michael! (Ask about Kim's...
Read moreThe South restroom was under construction and not useable. We weren't aware of that when we booked, or we would have gone elsewhere. They offered a whopping 10% discount because of it. They provided several port-a-potties instead, but my younger kids are terrified of them. Real toilets and showers were the main reason we chose this campground. The restroom that was useable was clean and functional. No soap is provided at the sinks in the restroom, so bring your own!
The campsites were tiny and the whole campground was incredibly dusty. When we arrived, the people in the campsite next to ours were taking up half of our spot. It was confusing since the spots were so small and not very clearly differentiated from each other. We couldn't get help from an employee because it was after office hours and there is no cell service at the campground. Also, be aware that the owners do not respond to email inquiries.
The river was unusable due to being infested with toxic blue green algae. That was also not made known to us until it was too late to book somewhere else. We didn't mind, but many other campers were upset that they hadn't been informed of this ahead of time.
The workers were mostly friendly and helpful. My three and six year old kids got yelled at for speaking in their regular voices (not particularly quiet, but certainly not yelling) outside the restroom during quiet hours. No big deal. We appreciated the quiet hours. Just be aware that you need to whisper after 10 PM.
The dog playground is a small, fenced-in area with a couple tree stumps. We had our dogs with us but never used the dog area. Not quite sure what it's for since there isn't anything for the dogs to do inside and you still have to keep the dogs on leashes.
Our kids really enjoyed the human playground. Two swings, three slides, and a tetherball pole kept them entertained for a good hour at a time each day.
Would have given three stars if there had been notice given prior to booking that only one of the restrooms was functional and the river was inaccessible. I highly advise calling and asking about all the details that are important to you before booking.
Overall, we had a mostly...
