James Bay Distillers Ltd — Attraction in Mill Creek

Brought my family here on a late Sunday. Having been to other spirit tastings before, I was expecting us to be in and out within 15 minutes or so. Definitely was not the case here, the experience far exceeded any previous experiences l've had.

Ernie, our host and one of the co-founders, was fantastic. I appreciated that he was not only generous with his pours, but also generous with his time, expertise, and humor. We never felt rushed, even though we came about an hour before closing. I felt that he went above and beyond with how well he treated my family and me.

And of course, the spirits themselves were of highest quality as well. My family, notoriously picky with their alcohol, only had glowing reviews of all they tried (and there was quite a bit to try!). Even to my untrained palette, I could tell that the spirits were deserving of all the awards they've won.

My wife, our 15 yo son, and I had a wonderful experience at James Bay Distillers on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Between my wife and I, we tried most/all of their spirits which were as lovely as the two proprietors. Leigh and her husband are clearly passionate about their work and it shows in their products. We brought home a bottle of their brand new Berry & Ube Gin, a bottle of Summer Gin, a bottle of the Raft Lemon Ginger syrup, and a bottle of Raft Pineapple Tamarind, which was in the Hello Friend cocktail that my wife tried and thoroughly enjoyed. Best hole in the wall distillery I’ve experienced. If you’re in the area definitely stop by for a tasting!! Their cocktails are a bit pricey but the tasting is very worth the price (I believe it’s 8 quarter shots for $10). The variety of spirits is impressive and we have yet to be disappointed in any. When they’re doing tours it’s a great experience although last trip we made they were not doing tours at the time. Also, their vodka is actually smooth. Like really smooth.
