Naples Grande Golf Club — Attraction in East Naples

Played Naples Grande this week with a friend staying at the hotel.

First the positives:

1. the course was in very good shape. It was well maintained with few divots or ball marks to be found. Nicely manicured.
2. the practice area was very nice. Balls are available at the range and a chipping/putting green in is available for warming up.
3. several tee boxes are available to customize your round

Now the opportunities:

1. most expensive round of golf I've played in Naples at almost $200 (that's more than Tiburon charged me, where the pros play)
2. the course was jammed even with an afternoon tee time. Waited on every shot, holes backed up. Impossible to play 18 as intended. People walking off during the round in frustration.
3. the layout is reasonable but unremarkable. No holes or series of holes that you want to play again and again.
4. Naples airport is close by and the golf course is on the approach path. Planes buzz the tree tops continuously during our round.

Bottom line I was glad to have played Naples Grande but won't be hurrying back. The value isn't just...

Updated 8-2023: Greens are still fast and true, but course conditions remain sketchy with respect to divot. Most of the tee boxes we played today were riddled with divots, many of them not filled.

Wonderful golf course. While it does have some forgettable holes on the 18-hole layout, it also has some very, very good, and memorable holes. Very fast greens and enjoyable to play. They do a good job on the range and taking care of guests, and unless you're in the middle of season the rates are very reasonable.

I rated it four stars out of five simply because I must have filled a hundred divots playing today, August 2022, and there were a lot of divots, and unrepaired ball marks on the greens. Not necessarily the fault of the Naples Grande staff but something that should be addressed daily.

The clubhouse is very nice and lunch was good, including a menu with a nice variety of options. I did purchase a Bloody Mary, a vodka soda, (both doubles) and a Miller lite out on the course, and it was $67 which I thought was a bit high.

This is a beautiful golf course. However, I have never been treated as rudely by the golf course staff. For our event they could not even tell me what my tee time was,and who I was supposed to golf with. They did finally figure it out about 5 minutes before tee time.
